Got a Facebook buddy selling a nice Golden Age USA Comics #17...no idea if this is a good price or not?  I don't see any recent sales, but $1400 seems a little high...you guys have any opinions?

I can't say I am a Timely expert although I love them and wish I could afford more.  There was a May 2018 of a slabbed 2.5 was $366 (it did have Small amount of dried glue on spine of cover.) and a restored 8.5 for $896 in Feb.  I don't see any other 2018 sales on GPA.

Not that the below information helps but...

There is currently a slabbed 6.5 on CL listed for $1,995.  http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch.asp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3Dusa%2Bcomics%26ItemType%3DCB&id=1263852

Also Elite Comic Source has a 6.0 slabbed copy for $1,795.  http://elitecomicsource.com/product/u-s-a-comics-17-cgc-6-0-oww-bondage-cover/

There are a total of 50 total graded copies on the census.

Is that a rusty staple?  And what grade are they saying it is?  Assume no resto/conservation?

I think I'm understanding there might have been some cleaning to the cover, so not sure if that would be resto or not, but I think he's estimating it around a 5.0, with the cleaning.

Depends on the type of cleaning I believe.  Dry cleaning would not be considered restoration but using chemical solvents would.  I agree with Dave above, I wouldn't buy it and it does seem high.  It's evidently not too rare and without having the book in hand or buying from someone I've had experience with, I would wait for a slabbed copy for a book at that price point given its potential availability.

And if that is a rusty staple, I would personally for sure steer away.

Just my thoughts.
