27.2 divided by 2 is the height, slabs are what? 12?

I would assume that it would work for slabs....

No.  Slabs are 14 inches high and legal drawers are just big enough to place 4 lidless shortboxes in when the drawer is 36" wide.   4 rows of bagged, boarded raw books would likely fit into the 30" width (without boxes) but I've never tried I only have a 5 drawer one that is 36" wide.

(tsk)  Don't question the 2018 Boardie of the Year.

If slabs are 14 inches then they probably wouldn't fit lol

I thought it could be 12, I just remembered the last time that I measured for my glass cabinet, it wasn't roomy enough....

You're probably right I went with the mylar dimensions (9x14 w/flap), a comic is 10 and a half andthe drawer height internally in my lateral filing cabinet is about 11 inches, for a slab 12 is close.

I actually had a local wood worker make a chest of drawers for me.  It wound up not being that expensive.  And I figured if I’m willing to spend as much as I do on 1 comic book, I should not feel bad about spending a little $ to give them a good home!

Well, I got all scientific and measured a slab. Just under 13". So as long as there isn't anything I'm not accounting for, it should work. I'll definitely check on those 36" cabinets though. Fitting 4 shorts in 1 drawer would be a huge help and it would be so much easier to dig stuff out instead of having to unstack boxes. Thanks all!

Good quality/heavy duty lateral filing cabinets are definitely the way to go.

My "really good" comics are all in Bill Cole Arklites backed by Thin X-Tender boards or else Gerber Mylites backed by Half-Backs. I've not yet bagged and boarded my magazine collection in the same way though but that's my intention.

Here from a few years ago are pictures of me in front of my comic cabinet and the magazine cabinet beside it:

I've not yet Mylited my magazine collection though. I've run out of Mylites and Halfbacks and need to put in an order for several hundred comic ones and probably a thousand magazine ones. Hopefully that will be sufficient for at least another ten years.

The two lateral filing cabinets within which I keep my comics and magazine collection are made by Global. They're five high 42" wide cabinets that will hold more than 2750 comics at full capacity. The cost of each was over $1000 and I had to pay about $100 extra to get a flip top instead of a regular drawer at the bottom.

The program here now demands that I upload from wherever to My Pictures on my computer's hard drive before attaching them to this thread. This is time intensive. It's much easier to copy and paste from wherever else (including on this very forum) I've previously posted the pictures.

Are you clicking the "display as link instead" option?  The url will auto embed if you don't do that.

Well using the Link icon didn't work either. The picture did not embed.

I can tell you this much, if you're posting to see if it rights itself upon submission?

If you get it to work, it'll show the pic before you hit submit post :foryou:

Also, the boards used to use photobucket or some 3rd party hosting site, and I'm not sure how that is more difficult, as I came along mostly after the boards update of 2016..

That said, copy and paste and embed has never been easier from everything, I'm not familiar with Photobucket though. We're able to take pics on our phone and straight up load them from the phone or other.

I feel bad that there is somehow a "learning curve" still, the only reason that no one has responded, is I haven't heard of it being "hard to upload" since about 2017...

And I feel like I should help, but I'm not sure what an issue it could be
