I still think it would interesting to compare grader notes even if they come the same grade just to see if and what differences in defects are noted.  Are CBCS notes free to anyone?  And does PGX even make grader notes?

Curious were these 12 crossovers pre-screened by CGC? If they were do you remember if they warned you about the 2 that were downgraded?

Thanks alot for posting!

Thanks alot for posting!

I was not contacted about any downgrade on any books. I don't think modern books fall into the pre-screen tiers.  Standard, Express and WalkThru tiers get the pre-screen. I did only pay $10 for the downgraded books if I'm not mistaken. When I went through the invoice it looked like I was only charged $10 for those.

I will also add I have exactly 25 CBCS slabs left they are all 9.8 Spawn books. ( I was going to build a competitive set WHEN they release their registry ??? ) I called  CGC to see if I could pre-screen these 25 books at 9.8 for the crossover price (I new they would have to crack them out to pre-screen , I just didn't want to pay $10 for 9.6 and below Spawn books). They said no that was not part of the offer. So I'm going to have to roll the dice on these and probably send the ones I personally feel that may not hit off to consignment land.

Some went up, some went down, and some stayed the same.  Interesting to me that the numerical grades differed more often than the page quality designations, as a vocal minority seem to believe that the page quality grading is random, while placing great faith and money when buying or selling on the numerical grade.

I would think that this may devalue other company's slabs as the market wonders why they remain in those slabs with this crossover option available. If there was confidence in the grade many would go cgc I would think. Is that probable or am I just thinking about it too hard?

I'm just doing it 'cause I'm OCD.

No if anything it may affirm cbcs's grading credibility at least if results keep like they're going. Personally I value the CGC slab clarity more than it having a CGC label. So to me it's for vanity. I would think most who don't crossover just don't feel like going through the hassle of printing paperwork packing up & shipping, risking a mishap during the ship etc etc. Inevitably there'll be those apprehensive over a downgrade but that's expected no matter what.

As for PGX well that's another matter altogether :fear:

Sent in 9 books. 8 moderns and 1 value tier.

Will post updates.

Iron Man 88 9.0 30 cent PV  I expect this to go up

Iron Man 88 9.6 30 cent PV. I expect this to go down.

Hulk 193 9.6. This one is up to CGC

Nova 1 9.6

Thanos Rising 1 9.8. I expect this to stay a 9.8.

Marvel Spotlight 32 9.2. I expect this to stay the same.

Star Wars 1 9.0  I will leave this up to CGC

ASM 313 9.8  I expect this to stay 9.8.

World Unknown 1 9.6. Expect to stay the same.

Grades are in. All stayed the same with the one exception listed below. As my notes stated earlier it was no surprise

Iron Man 88 went from a CBCS 9.6 to a CGC 9.4.

Alright congratulations! Nice going! Why did you believe the Iron Man 88 was suspect? Spine? Corners?

Edit: I saw the scan, can't quite make out if those are stress lines on the spine by the blood brother's shoulder? I see the obvious one under the corner box but would that alone be enough for the downgrade???

My updated personal count:

38 cbcs crossovers

31 returned same or higher

So I noticed that return shipping is higher if adding this option. (crossover grading special)

If I send 10 Raw modern comics to be graded the return shipping cost ( UPS and FedEx ) would be $32.  However, if I add 1 crossover modern in with 9 raw modern comics the return shipping jumps to $44.( UPS and FedEx )

I figure that the crossover would ship separately, so in my case I will not submit this item for crossover, it would be more beneficial for me to crack it out, and resubmit as a raw item later

Does anyone know why this is?

Because it is a different service? They may ship separately like value and modern

Yeah, thanks figured that out, and edited my post. It would be more beneficial for me to just crack it out and submit as raw later if I wanted to. Thanks
