You should not worry about the tape or try to have it removed. This is a very low grade copy of an awesome SA book. If you plan on selling the book is it worth the expense over what it will sell for? The only graded Showcase 55 that has sold on eBay recently was a FN+ 6.5 that sold for $132.00 If you are going to keep the book having it graded does not offer any more protection than a Mylite and Acid Free Board. As the book sits right now with a piece of tape it is IMO a VG 4.0 which makes the value of this book $40 - $50.
