Antarctic is in western dist Texas, so proper

A little more interesting...but my feelings on Texas (until somewhat recently) were that they had a penchant preferring handling their business personally without government intervention.  They might view it as the government shouldn't intervene in a local company making a business decision.

If they need a defense, shops getting harassed for not carrying this would be a good way for no Antarctic product getting ordered, but is there a claim against Antarctic?

Yah, we all agree that in any venue, its gonna be a tough case for the plaintiffs to make, and in the event they make it effectively, a really tough case to collect damages on.  I think the plaintiffs are hoping for a couple bucks for a settlement but more realistically some nice publicity.  It doesn't sound like Mr. Waid is too worried about it, but it does take money to fight.

As per usual, the lawyers are the real winners here.  Although if you're a lawyer representing people with certain terrible view points... you might not be a winner....

Waid is represented by Mark zaid, a long time boardie and accomplished lawyer. Plaintiff is represented by a real looking austin lawyer. If on contingency, this may not be worth his time. Otoh, if he got a $100k retainer out of that $400k they raised he may not give a hoot whether the case is a loser.

It may very well have, but that type of success won't last as it isn't built on the product. I doubt revenge-funders even read the comic.

Maybe. Maybe it's good. I haven't seen it but Marvel DC et al are not doing themselves any favors by publishing .

Sadly, my guess is that a line of white supremacist and right wing themed comics would do pretty well in this country right now.

Right now? Jeez that would have been true since "the yellow kid" comic strip way back when. Hate porn in any form has always had a market. Free & open has its warts

Guess books don’t need to be burned if they’re never printed to begin with.

Anybody with a few bucks can self publish. Publishers have no obligation to take on projects that may harm them.

I do love threads like this, you really learn who's a decent human being and who's a waste of oxygen.

Some threads are like those old litmus test strips.....acids are quickly revealed.
