Why didn’t Detective Comics hit 1,000 issues before Action Comics ? 0

With Tec 1 hitting news stands  the year before (1937 ) I would have thought they would.......

what am I missing ??

Maybe because Action was weekly in the 80s

Could be OtherEric’s reason.  By the earliest issue I found labeled “Weekly” (601) Action had already passed Detective.

Action "caught up" with Detective with issue 445 in March '75.  Action passed Detective in Feb '77 with issue 468, a month Detective was not published.

Detective was almost cancelled during the DC Implosion in the late seventies. They saved the book at the last minute by merging it with Batman Family. It's incredible to think that the book was doing so poorly in the seventies that it almost got the axe.

Detective didn't hit 1000 before Action because Action hit 1000 before Detective.

And I assume you would know this because you have every single issue of both Action and Detective Comics from issue #1 right through to current times, and you just went through every single one of them to find out this little tidbit for us.

Detective was rumored to be on the chopping block in the early 80s too, long after the Batman Family years.

Here's an interesting one for you guys. Batman 1 1940, Our Army at War 1 1952. Both published continuously throughout. OAAW passed Batman in issue numbers in the early 70s.
