Marvel copied the *spoon* out of everyone!!

Most of those early Timely/Atlas/Marvel guys gravitated to comics, the "new thing", from the pulps/dime novels. That great early sci-fi/horror stuff. Guys like Schomburg, Burgos, Frank Paul (Marvel Comics 1), Howard Brown, Fuqua, and other early pulp greats were their mentors! Stan started at Marvel not long after the company was publishing Marvel Science Stories, the pulp; pre-Marvel Comics 1! Pulps proliferated the newsstands when Marvel (Timely) started publishing comics!

TL,DR: Here's an article about a character named "Spider Man" who has nothing to do with Peter Parker: Spider-Man.

Way to educate yourself. TL,DR is no way to go through life

If everyone is too terrified to talk why are there even rumors about the beautiful daughter of the late Dr Goddard?  There should be no connection to him as he collected insects, and spiders are not insects.

And lest we forget, Hopi mythology: Spider-Grandmother; the mother and protector of humanity:

Of course, none of these share the same creational element as our Marvel Spider-man, purely the byproduct of Atomic age technology. In concert with the 1954 Ben Cooper Spider-man Halloween costume (Kirby and/or Ditko are rumored to have done work for the Ben Cooper costume company in the 50s), 1955-1962 sci-fi horror movies probably influenced the creation of Spider-man more than anything, the man/animal "affected by radiation", some bitten or contaminated by someone or some irradiated thing thematic element of many of those early sci-fi/horror movies, just like the FF and the Hulk were, as well as being an extension of those themes having run in the Atlas/Marvel titles for the preceding decade.
