There were only a handful of 'universe builders' that shaped American pop culture. Walt Disney, Jim Henson and now Stan Lee have all passed. May he rest in peace as he made his mark on the world. Few people get to say that.

I like the sound of that term, "universe builders" and I agree that he was one.  I was lucky enough to photograph one of his last panels at Dragon Con two years ago and stood in line with what seemed like a thousand people to have my picture made with him.  Godspeed Stan.

RIP Stan, thank you for all the wonderful characters and stories.  It is a sad day for comic book fans, but rather than shed a tear lets celebrate his amazing life and read a comic or two in his honor!

I hope Stan knew what he meant to an impressionable child who loved  Spider Man,  Hulk , and Silver Surfer growing up.  How he taught me how to read, how to be a good person and respect people of all races. I knew this was coming, I'll be damned if it still doesn't hurt.

My wife thinks they must have filmed a few cameos of Stan to use after he is gone.  My fingers are crossed we get to see him at least one more time so the crowds can cheer.

Horrible news. We all knew it would happen one day as these years ticked by. Thank you Stan for everything. A true giant is gone. One of the things that always impressed me about him was how hopeful and optimistic he was about the world and future of comics. RIP Stan Lee.

I know Stan had exposure outside of comics, but was sort of surprised that his passing is one of the lead stories on my local AM radio station this afternoon.
