I was just reading a reprint of Amazing Spidey #9 with my son this morning. I don’t care what anybody says, I think the man was a genius. His writing was so witty and clever, I could only imagine as a young boy reading it back then must have been mind blowing. As an adult I appreciate it even more, and am glad my son wIll be able to read these stories for years to come. Stan, you’re the Man. God bless.

:foryou:

Stan made me want to learn English.

When I was eight or nine years old I bought a stack of Fantastic Fours at a local flea market and only noticed afterwards that they were originals and not the German reprints I was used to. And even if I couldn't understand a single word, the word balloons somehow looked "right" compared to the clumsy translations in the reprints.

Thank you Stan!

Speaking of autographs... the frenzy is on... whoa...

For those that said the market was saturated with Stan Lee autographs... I guess the demand really is there.  I bought a few more signatures earlier this year and they aren't for sale so I have no dog in this race.  I added these up as many have said over the years how there is a glut of his signatures and that he would sign anything.  Apparently the demand was always there.

The first book that sold after he passed, on eBay was Hulk 340 in a 9.4 for $325... I will be updating this...

Well, I thought I’d had a bad day so far, but this really, really is a kick in the teeth, and on another level entirely.

It wasn't too unexpected after his wife’s death, but he’s the type of iconic creator that you just don’t want to lose.

His work, and that of his key artistic collaborators from the Silver Age, got me through many difficult times, entertained and often amazed me with its creativity, all from my pre-teen years, and, I suspect, it always will.

Thanks for that Stan, you were fantastic.

I have been thinking about Mr.Lee after hearing of his passing. Mr.Lee in my mind would prefer to be addressed as Stan, and why do I think that? Because he encouraged readers and fans to feel they knew him and we did. The characters are amazing but from an early social media marketing perspective he created the mighty Marvel Bullpen. A brilliant marketing touch. As a commercial film maker this is revolutionary! Comics were going under in the early sixties when I first heard of him but with Stans creative touch they turned around. I guess I bring this up cause it wasn't just story or heroes that he excelled at, but advertising as well. This act of pulling us in, being a part of the inside joke is what makes the Marvel Universe work on an emotional level. A hero, a friend I have always counted my whole life on is gone. I am sixty years old, he has been with me for 55 years this is a sad day. Rest well Mr. Lee you earned it.

Thank you. I feel the same way...it's like losing a member of the family...

Aaaaaaaaand eBay sellers that sold their books before learning of Lee's passing are already refunding their buyers...

lol Daredevil 1 in a CGC 2.0 sold to my friend about twenty minutes ago for $1600 has now been refunded as a good customer of theirs bought it in hand before he had the chance to take it down.

Riiiiiight.

1967 I was ten years old,  bought my first ASM off the racks, #50, while on a Tahoe trip with the family,

Read the story, and my life changed, never read anything like it, so "real"? so fun, yet so amazing!

Thank you Stan, for being a part of my childhood, and the wonder of what you help create,

Agree 100%.

Hail to the chief!! Thanks for being Stan the Man! RIP Stan. Comics would not have become the institution they are without you.

Very sad final year.  RIP Stan. :frown:

I found out because my wife (who doesn't read comics) texted me.  Stan really had crossed over into the mainstream with the Marvel movies.  Everyone now knows Stan Lee.

I know the button will get humped and I’ll get Mod action but just have to say:

I REALLY wish someone would make a skin-suit out that Keya clown.

There. I said it.

RIP Mr. Stan Lee. I've never met him, but feel like I know him just a little bit. My first Halloween costume I ever wore was Spider-Man - this was some time in mid to late 60's. I first heard him speak (for any length of time) in the TV show "Who wants to be a Super Hero?"

Yeah it's no accident I just sold a Stan signed book an hour ago on the Bay for a GPA high even though it had a best offer option. They will be flying off the shelves!

Rip to the George Washington of the comic book industry!!!
