How to grade Rodent Bites? 1 1

Experts - how would you grade this book? looks like squirrel or rodent bites - otherwise book is perfectly fine and can pass for 7.5-8.0.

How much does this affect the grade? What should I grade this at?

Unfortunately, the amount of pieces missing should limit it to the Good range, i.e., 1.5 to 3.0, no higher.

wow - i was thinking 5.0 - not fair if you think about it - rest of book is really nice. but thanks for input..

Bug chew is your alternative, but the size of that, that's a big rat chew. You've a way to go before beating these...

You can refer to it as "missing paper" or "large tear through book with missing paper" but experienced comic collectors will see one thing "RAT CHEW!"  I would grade that as a 3.0-3.5 b/c it doesn't appear to affect the story at all

I would seriously cut off the entire area with a scissor. Even if they gave you a purple label (and I don’t think they would) “piece missing” sounds a lot more appealing to any buyer than “rat chewed”

"pest damage"... is that more PC or appealing?

Which is what you should call it whenever you call your insurer.  Most homeowners (and other) policies have a "rat" or rodent exclusion. Remember this: you are NOT an expert, and NOT a forensic biologist (only the victim.)
