That’s his MO.  No one would care, except HBO keeps him around and enough people pay their subscription fee.  Just take solace that he’s a sad little man that will one day die in total irrelevance in some obscure corner of his bitter little world.

HBO doesn’t evaluate their shows by how many subscribers but by how many people are watching a particular show, just like every other TV program. Maher’s had his own show for over 20 years because people are watching it. Just not comic nerds now :)

Bill gave $1 million to the Democratic party so he isn't shy about backing up his political policies. He also demeans people who attend San Diego Comic Con and is hence not very supportive of "nerd outings". There will always be people like that. When you consider how much money the comic book industry has brought in for movies and tv, you'd think the public outlook on the comic industry as a whole would have changed more. If you like comics, apparently to some you will always be a 'geek'.

...........Superhero film Black Panther has won the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild awards (SAGs). The box office hit picked up best ensemble cast award in a motion picture, the SAG ceremony's closest thing to a best film prize.

Bill Maher isn't cool.  When someone who isn't cool says "don't do this thing", it's basically like a cool person saying "do it".

If Bill Maher was actually suggesting that everyone collect comics, that would probably be worse for comics than him saying "don't".

He's just Andy Rooney reborn.
