First, I have a question that I hope someone can answer.

This comic is noted as an EC cover swipe, but I don't know of what cover. Can someone please tell me?

Also, are there other well-known and well-executed cover swipes out there?

Good ol' Bob Kane the swipe artist! I think FWIW he actually swiped quite cleverly (if you're going to swipe, might as well try to be good at it.) I think many artists of the GA wouldn't be without a swipe file of some go-to poses.

The Beware was a swipe from Adventures into Darkness. But, I've been told the Adventures into Darkness was swiped from an EC Jack Davis splash page. Any eagle eyed EC fanaddicts know which one?
