There is a book about a comic shop in my old neighborhood that weaves a tale of renegade priests, the IRA,bank robberies,  money laundering and Marvels New Universe.

It was optioned for a movie but I don't know what happened.

Title? The fact that Marvel's New Universe comes into play is the clincher.

The Book is Called Seven Million. With a subtitle something like Cops, Robbers ,Brinks and The IRA.

Bottom line was this IRA hitman was laying low in Queens and decided to open a comic book store. A priest involved with the IRA plotted a huge armored car robbery with some local Jackson Heights lads.

They ended up with millions in cash and laundered it through the shop. An absurd tale that no one would believe, except it happened.

What was that one story about the guy buying up high dollar books didnt care what he paid some kind of money laundering or something.

Tadano corporation and money laundering through Heritage auctions and then in a twist, someone from the DA's office stole the books from the evidence room as they were being held for trial.

I think I had heard about this but don't ever recall reading the details.

Thanks for posting that, Roy.

I wonder if GPA still has those sales recorded that were made with stolen money or if they were expunged. hm

You mean like this CGC 8.5 graded Billy Wright copy fo All-Star Comics 3 that was sold for just over $49K on Heritage:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/all-star-comics-3-billy-wright-pedigree-dc-1940-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7054-91043.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515

and then resold by the buyer through Heritage's Make Offer to Owner function for $200K right after that.    :screwy:

I am sure GPA picked up the $49K initial sale by Heritage, but not so sure about the follow-up sale for $200K.  (shrug)
