How did you get this one, if you don't mind saying? I don't mind your asking. My "scientific" bidding technique isn't exactly proprietary. Nov. Heritage Auction, five years ago. I was traveling while the live voice auction was going on. Unable to monitor the bidding, I relied on proxy bidding and pure luck. Anecdotally, I'd also placed a bid on an 8.5 copy of Captain America #2 (OW). I expected to lose the Cap. In the year prior a 7.5 Cap #2 had realized my max. bid and an 8.0 had realized well over twice my max., both had worse PQ. Taking a halfhearted shot at it, my proxy bid was well under the HA estimate. In fact, more concerned about losing the 'Tec I'd placed a little extra on the plate for the Church (still thinking I'd probably lose the Cap by at least $10K). After the dust settled and I checked the final auction results at the hotel, ...lo and behold!... I'd won both books. My AMEX and I were in a state of shock. entalmighty1, Cpt Kirk and Tri-Color Brian
Timely
Gary Carter owned a lot of the prehero Detectives. He had been selling them off for years. He even put some in the very 1st Sotheby's comic auction in the early 90's. Cpt Kirk and Larryw7
