Keys_Collector 178 posts Posted December 6, 2018 I'd go with #3. Earlier issue and personally I find the cover much more appealing than #14. There's only 1 Otto Octavius while there's been multiple incarnations of the Green Goblin. I'd say go for who you like better as a villain if it's for your personal collection regardless of value since they are pretty close anyway and you really can't go wrong with either one. 1 jdw1991 reacted to this

In the corner were about 5 slabs and one was a ASM 3 CGC 0.5! He wants $400 for it, or around $400 he said. I may just go get it soon. I have to see why it is a 0.5 first! It’s probably a 0.5 because it’s missing the pin-up which doesn’t affect the story.

This is a much closer contest than I anticipated. I thought #3 would be a clear winner. My current copy of #3 is missing the pin-up and my #14 is about a 2.0 but complete. I’d like to upgrade both but I may only be able to afford one.

Sweet Lou 14 693 posts Posted December 7, 2018 (edited) I would say #3. To the extent that the movies drive the characters' popularity, Doc Ock came across much better on film than the Goblin. I never liked the rigid plastic / metal mask they used in that first Spidey movie -- with Ock you got to see Alfred Molina actually play the character, and he was great. If they ever reboot the Goblin in the movies, they really need to use makeup, prosthetics, and/or CGI to let us actually see the actor's face moving and speaking. Both villains a toss up as for the more popular one. You get the pin up page in the #3 as well. ^^^ This. ^^^ -J. 1 Primetime reacted to this

Can you please let me know where I can get an ASM 3 raw or graded VG copy for only $800?! My CGC 3.0 recently sold at auction for $1K. So I would happily pay $800 for a VG copy! I think I paid about $850 for a 3.5 last year. 1 LDarkseid1 reacted to this
PopKulture 1,283 posts Posted December 15, 2018 Number 3 for me, all day long. I think 14 spiked years ago and remained in the higher regard based mostly on inertia.

Callaway29 1,005 posts Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) This is a tough one. I have to say asm3, mainly because it came a full year earlier. Roughly 1900 asm3’s in the census and 3200 asm14’s...for what it’s worth. Edited December 15, 2018 by Callaway29
Chicago Boy 2,314 posts Posted December 15, 2018 #14 but I’d rather own #3 any day of the week. Spidey #3 was my first big book ! Thought I would never get closer to an AF 15 than that one day

Spider-Man 121-122 touches it all over. Goblin over doc for me too. But I have both. You gotta have both. JohnH19 266 posts Posted December 20, 2018 Got my 14 upgrade in yesterday’s mail. Great condition with the only major flaw being the tape rub at the top. Now that I have solid copies of both I no longer care whether 3 or 14 is a bigger key. 5 1 KirbyJack, Not A Clone, ComicConnoisseur and 3 others reacted to this

MusterMark 1,745 posts Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) A #3 is a #3, and that's that. But I'm glad you got both. Btw, I ran into Alfred Molina at my local carwash and chatted with him about his movies - super nice guy.
