Dear lord this is my worst nightmare....

I wish I could explain The Lengths I've gone to to try and make my house secure just for this exact reason!

but I must say...I'm not entirely sure what the problem is here or at least why they havent been caught...they literally have their license plate number...

assuming they were simply stupid and used their OWN car and plate...It should be extremely easy for police to find them...Lol they have a perfect picture of they guys face

I hope this has a happy ending, It should be as simply as looking up their plate, bringing them in, arrest them, Interrogate them, Pressure them, and them tell where the collection is.

Hopefully They didnt have a Buyer set up immediately after stealing them...Hopefully they are sitting on them

In my case they had video, license plate, everything.  I never got anything back.  The officer working the case, when visited by me after I got impatient and drove to the police station and visited his desk, said he simply didn't have time for it <...>

You can be sure if it was the policeman's locker, the case would be moved to the top of the pile as a priority.

Knew where to steal from, but not how to obscure themselves from surveillance cameras.  They basically said “catch me.”  Hopefully the locals will wrap this up in short order.

Apparently these criminals know which crimes are not really crimes and will not be enforced.

@kav Its LVMPD; they're good at harassing teenagers for loitering (aka: being present at a movie theater or shopping mall without a legal adult in close proximity), dishing out tickets for parking violations/speeding/driving with out-of-state-plates (they'll come up with a "reason" for the ticket, but really, its the fact that you're from out of town), and pointing drunk tourists towards the nearest available bathroom. They also handle casino dirty work from time to time. Aside from that, good luck rousting them from their speed traps or desks unless a serious crime is highly visible (live on the news) and/or making them look bad publicly.

Well it would be detectives not patrol officers that would handle this.  Wonder what theyre off doing.  This is an easy solve media credit situation.

Seems that there's an untapped market for some kind of privately run police force that you could subscribe to.

VICTIM OF THEFT, CHECK FRAUD. BURGLARIES ETC AND REGULAR COPS DONT HAVE TIME FOR YOU?  HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCE ALREADY?  THATS WHERE WE STEP IN!

C.O.P.S.

Crime Offences Privately Stopped

Any follow-up on this? Original poster: Did he post anything more on Facebook? I hope the police catch or caught the thieves. If he has a list of the most valuable comics stolen, or if he has scans/photos of the covers (with creases or other elements that make the comics identifiable if they're sold), then please post them here.

having an ED-209 in the storage locker at the time of the crime would have been preventative.

Drop the books! You have ten seconds to comply!

One of those motion sensing sentry guns from the film Aliens would be a better option I think, no talk, straight to business lol
