So did DC end their Giant series in Walmart to sell it to comic shops now?
The other day I noticed those Giants selling in my comic shop now on the rack?

I still see them for sale at Walmart.

Is this the "original" Wal-Mart variant or were there others before it?

This is the 1st example of  a Walmart variant. Yes

At least as far as people recollect. It was a popular book by a super popular artist and people actually remember these from a Walmart multipack.

Even though nobody really gave it much thought at the time as far as rarity.

So I stopped by the local WalMart tonight again to fill up some water and took some additional photos of the rest of the new wave of books.  I'm going to list out the quantities that were available as well.  However, since these seem to have been out about a week now, I'm not sure if any of the issues have sold.  Part of me assumes they have, but part of me questions why some of the books would sell whereas there are Spidey issues just sitting there for the taking.

Outside of the Iron Man issue, each of these variants are #1.  Just like the last wave, this set seems to have eight different variants.  Unlike ALL previous WalMart editions, NONE of these have barcodes on the front cover.  For anyone that bought a pack (looking at you @mr_highgrade), is there a barcode on the back cover?  I'd have to check, but the lack of barcode on the front cover may be the differentiating factor on a number of these variants.  For example, take a look at Strikeforce #1 (regular editions have a barcode, the WalMart variant does not have the barcode.)

2x Ghost Rider #1
2x Tony Stark: Iron Man #16
1x Jane Foster: Valkyrie #1
2x King Thor #1
3x Spider-man #1
3x Spider-verse #1
3x Star Wars: Allegiance #1
1x Strikeforce #1

Just like last time, I didn't pick any of these up.

I think it's a good idea to keep up with documenting these things.  This thread is a valuable resource for everyone.  If anyone has any additional information on the quantities available in their stores, feel free to add some input.

Below are some pics.

Also, just to address a couple other things that have been brought up previously...

Hello, just registered so I could get in on this topic with this shocking and profound question... Why hasn't anyone stressed anything about keeping the 3-packs in their original packaging for highest collectible value? I have Uncanny X-men #1, Captain Marvel #1, and the Black Cat #1 in original unopened shrink.

This factor has ALWAYS BEEN the key in all other collecting venues I've seen. Does this NOT apply for these?

On the rare occasion that I purchase these, I keep all of these in the shrinkwrap.  Eventually, when I'm ready to sell, if the buyer wants to crack open the pack, that's completely up to them.  However, if I've already opened it up, I've lost interest from the niche group of collectors that would prefer to purchase them sealed.

I'm not worried about condition so much.  The books will go immediately into new bags and boards, then into a longbox (never to be seen again), so the condition I buy them at the store will generally be the condition that they remain.  Will the plastic shrink wrap damage the books due to chemical reactions more than if I took them out and put them in mylars... SURE... but that's such a minor concern for me that it doesn't change my stance to keep them sealed.

Where are people finding these at Walmart? I was at a nearby Walmart this afternoon and looked in the toy section, the "books" section, and the checkout area. Didn't see any comic books. The store was crowded so I didn't ask any employees for help (and in the past, Walmart employees haven't been particularly helpful).

I know other people have already responded, but just to clarify... for the initial wave of these variants, only WalMart Superstores carried the comics.  They may have since expanded to all WalMart stores, but I haven't heard anything and kind of doubt that's the case.  If your WalMart does carry these comics, they will generally be in Aisle 1 next to the sports/Magic/Pokemon cards.  This is also where you'll find the DC variants that are of the same flavor.

The 7/10 package is 2 3-packs packaged with the All New Wolverine 19

Looks like all the sets may be the same?

I forgot to post about this, but as of August 12th, my local WalMart was carrying the Marvel "7 for $10" packs.  I only saw two packs total, which are shown below.

As of today (November 6th), the Daredevil pack is still unsold.  The Moon Knight pack probably sat there for a couple months before someone finally picked it up.

Why? ???  9.6/9.8’s ( non Walmart) sell for about $60 now. This is at best ( from auction pics ) a 9.0/9.2

and yes, I’m familiar with the law of supply and demand! Guess what’s throwing me here is the “demand” part...

Buyers are stupid. Sleeper is now a cat so this book has no more relevance. The book to get is Venom 165

Am I the only one snapping up every pack with Spider-Verse #1 on the front? I think that book is going to be huge.  First appearance and first cover for Spider-Zero.

I am very hesitant on Walmart packs now. Everyone is after these now. Once everyone is chasing something I am out.

I just got this spidey from Walmart on Saturday. I don't buy the alternate colored logo versions like the xforce shown but I will get all the different covers like the black cat.  anyways I think this one is all new.  its at least not used for issue 33 but does anyone know if this was just taken from another issue which they have done in the past.  love the cover regardless.

I like reporting on these, as I find it nice to be able to share accurate information.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to my local Walmart when this past wave hit.  By the time I took photos of the comics (on Jan 17th), I was already at least a week late for them sitting on the shelves.

Usually this wouldn't be an issue, as these comics tend to collect dust at my local Walmart.  For instance, the majority of the November wave of books are still sitting there untouched.  However, this round was already sold out of both Spidey books.  (Someone is either speculating or really likes Spider-man).  So, I won't be able to report on those two books with firsthand knowledge.  Also, my quantities this time around are a minimum, as a couple of the other comics likely sold a copy or two before I got there.

What I find interesting this round is the commitment to the mutant books.  Four of the eight books are X-Men related.  To round things out, (arguably) three Spidey titles and one Avengers.  Looks like this Fox acquisition has reinvigorated the marketing push for X-Books.

Just like most waves, I picked up a total of ZERO of these comics.
