2019 "THIS SCORE NEEDS FIXIN" REQUESTS

This is the place to request that scores in the CGC Registry competitive scores be evaluated. You may have slight disagreements with scores, but some of those slight disagreements just boil down to a judgment call. What we're looking for here are clearly incorrect scoring examples. Please provide links, sales histories or any other data that may be helpful in making the appropriate changes to the score.

When making requests, please use full title of the book and publish date. There have been so many reboots, I just want to make sure that we are looking at the same book.

I understand that you are anxious to have you scores updated, but let's take this slow. Start with the key issues that irk you most and need the attention the most.

Please try to avoid request like "Update all scores in X-Men (1963)." While I agree, some of these type of requests will be valid, I would like to focus on single book upgrades that are grossly under valued in points and less of the 700-800 books need to go up one point. Multiple people, requesting 700-800 all at once, is only going to clog the pipe. I am not saying "no" to these type of requests. I am just asking if we can hold off for a bit.

*Posts that have been edited after the original posting date will now be skipped and not revisited. Meaning, if you add more to your request at a later date, I will not fulfill it. Your request will be ignored and you need to resubmit your request. In short, don't try to skip others. I'm hip to it. Don't do it.  Make a new post for your new requests, don't add to the old one.

***If the score simply has a “0” just PM me and I will fix it.****

Please note: I am still trying to full all the requests from 2018. I hope to have them up as soon as I can. I will continue to like the posts in 2018 thread so you know when yours is up.

Thank you for your patience.

-m.

Happy New Year Mollie!

Would like to see a points increase for the following

(1990s) Infinity Gauntlet series (9.8 scores)

1 - 150 points

2-6 - 75 points each

Captain Marvel (1968 series)

25-34 should all get points increases (Starlin Art and early Thanos appearances). They all go for $500 or better in 9.8

Thanks!

Apparently some did not read Mollie's post to limit the requests to SINGLE BOOK Upgrades and not use ranges. I think this is a fair request considering she has to address every issue manually, one at a time. It's a lot of work and the requestors here should be considerate of that.

Hi Mollie

Would you please review:

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #1 Jim Lee 5K Edition
My understanding is that this hand drawn/signed cover of DKIII #1 book was obtained by retailers who ordered 5,000 copies (1:5,000)  of DKIII #1. A relatively rare book, although I can't locate the actual number of copies produced.

There are 20 on the census and I have a 9.8 Qualified Grade (2016656001) with a score of 20 points.   This seems to be under valued given that most copies sell for several thousand dollars.

Thanks - Mike

This score needs a'fixin...

Celebrate Diversity Sampler Collector's Edition #nn (10/94) - Only 9 on the census, only 6 in 9.8, rarely seen on e-Bay or in the wild. Last Universal 9.8 sold for $500. Last CGC SS 9.6 sold for $315. The current score for a CGC 9.8 Universal is 64 measly points, 70 for a SS CGC 9.8. For comparison, Next Men #21 CGC Universal 9.8 sells for about $400 and is obviously waaaaaay more plentiful than the Celebrate Diversity book. IThe NM#21 is a very key Hellboy book, but this CD book is highly under-scored. A Universal CGC 9.8 Next Men #21 gets you 560 registry points...almost a 500 point difference!

I'd suggest a LARGE adjustment in the points for the Celebrate Diversity book...it's nearly impossible to find and for true early Hellboy completists it's a must have. Hellboy cover appearance, a 1-page "Hi, My Name's Hellboy" origin spread and 1st cameo appearance of Abe Sapien = HUGE Hellboy book!

Hey Molly,

Can we get The Walking Dead #2 2nd print in line with the same point values of the first print?  They sell for pretty much the same price as the 1st print (sometimes it sells for more as it is much rarer in availability) and to raise it would be in line with the other issues that have 2nd prints (for example, #7 & #7B as well as #8 & #8B are the same point values).  Also, there are 18 copies of the second print in 9.8 on the census to the 200+ of the #2 first print.

Thanks for the consideration and I appreciate all that you do for us collectors!
Ryan

Please provide cert numbers for specific second printing issues. There are quite a few and any additional information you can provide will aid the research. Thanks.

Hi Mollie

Can you consider the score for the Invincible #75 Variant Cover? On GPA the most recent sale in February 2019 was $450 in 9.8, it is considered one of the most rare issues in the series

Same for:

Invincible #52 Sketch Cover

Invincible #100 Sketch Cover

Invincible #100 Ottley Sketch Cover

Invincible #50 Variant Cover

All of these issues are among the most rare and sought after in the series

Thanks so much for the consideration!

Some examples of keys I believe need reviews.  I know the algorithm is based on rarity, issue, title.  In today's market price is a big indicator of rarity on keys.

Werewolf by Night #32  a 7.5 is worth 250 points and goes for about $900

She-Hulk #1 9.8 is worth 440 points and goes for $300

Marvel Premiere #15 CGC 9.2 675 points worth about $400

Daredevil #168 9.6 925 points  worth about $400

Amazing Spiderman #194 9.6 380 points worth over $500

Hi Mollie,

looking at Detective 30 registry point allocation and sales data, I think a correct adjustment across all grades would be of X 2.5. There are only 36 Universal copies on the census and while GPA sales are few and far between, the 2.5 multiplier would be correct for both Restored and Universal in most grades (based on additional sales data not reported officially)

Thank you.

ps GoT Final Season sooooooon !!!! :whee:

Hi,

Here are a few I think are drastically underscored:

Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commando's 133 30 Cent Variant 5/1976: Single digit scores from a .5 to a 7.0 (1-8 points) Rare, 14 in census. Old data shows highest graded sale $315 unsure of grade or date, likely before 2013. These books are listed and sell on ebay for between $80 and $255 in mid grade 6.0 to 7.5.

Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commando's 134 30 Cent Variant 7/1976: single digit scores from a .5 to a 7.0 (1-8 points) Rare, 20 in census. Old data shows a 9.4 sold for $385, unknown date but before 2014. These books seem less common, but show up occasionally. I would estimate these would sell for 20% more than 133 based on old sales data.

Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commando's 141 35 Cent Variant 7/1977: Single digit scores from a .5 to a 6.5 (1-8 points) Very Rare, 8 in census, 9..2 highest graded. Old data shows record graded sale $1000, unsure of grade or date, likely before 2013. These books come up once in a while on ebay, rarely in other auction formats. Recent ebay sale of a raw book, estimated at a 7.5 sold for $620.00 in Feb. 2019. Graded 7.5 currently listed on ebay for $4,199.99. (Seems priced very high, but example of rarity.)

Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commando's 142 35 Cent Variant 9/1977: Single digit scores from a .5 to a 8.5 (1-8 points) Extremely Rare, 5 in census, 8.5 highest graded. This book is rarely seen in any auction. The only one I've personally ever seen in 20 years, was recently listed on ebay. Recent ebay sale of a raw book, estimated at a 2.0 sold for $767.00 in April, 2019. Apparently there was an ebay sale of a CGC 8.0 in Jan. 2018, but I don't have the data on it.

There is limited information on these books. They are all rare, with the 35 cent versions being the rarest. Fury 141 and 142 are consistently listed in the top ten rarest 35 cent variants. If you need more data, just let me know. I've gleaned most of this from various websites and from ebay sales, as I don't subscribe to GPA.

Scores updated. Thank you for your patience.

Hello, Mollie

I would like to bring to your attention concerning Tales To Astonish #13. The 2 recent Guardians Of The Galaxy movies have elevated the status of this issue quite significantly. This issue featured the first appearance of Groot. Currently, 6.0 to 7.5 and higher are selling for 5 to 10 thousand dollars. The points now assigned are 127 for 6.0, 143 for 6.5, 200 for 7.0. The TTA 27, the first Ant-Man, has drastically higher point values. For example, 5586 for 6.0, 6300 for 6.5, 8820 for 7.0. I feel that the point values for issue #13 should be at least 1/3 or more in relation to issue #27. I believe that any individual who has paid those thousands of dollars for TTA #13 would agree. Thank you.

John

Not sure if this is the right place for this but there is something wrong in the database for:

Eternal Warrior 1 Gold Variant Cover

https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/SlotScoreDetail.aspx?SlotID=32793

Score updated. Thank you for your patience.

In the chart it lists a CGC 9.8 Universal should be 176 points and for very few people (like me) it is 176 points

https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=35566

but for most others it is 240 points:

https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=95394

https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=7656

https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=63193

This is a key book in 3 different sets and the 176 vs 240 is a big difference.
