Hello. A newbie here, and realize this may be “off topic”. So I apologize if this is out of line.  ... any opinions appreciated on this 1964 Sports Illustrated (1st Swimsuit issue).

The Good:

Unlike many vintage magazines, there's no mailing label on the front cover.

Complete; no missing pages.

Tightly bound with no loose pages.

Lays 100% flat; no spine roll.

No tears on inside pages.

No folds or creases on inside pages.

No markings, underlines, etc. on inside pages.

No tanning on the insides of front or back covers.

No water damage.

No restoration (in my Father’s / my possession from 1964).

The Bad:

Spine split in cover about 3/8” long between the staples.

Color breaking wear along the length of spine.

TLFC: Light damage at corner.

Light color breaking abrasions approx. 0.7” from TLFC corner (above "S" in "Sports").

Approx 1/8” long color breaking crease at top edge about 2.25” from TLFC corner (above "o" in "Sports").

LLFC: Several color breaking abrasions near lower staple.

LLFC: Light corner damage.

LRFC: Color breaking crease (about 3/8” long).

Yellowing of about ¼” of inside page edges.

Agree that you have about a 6.5 - 7.0 issue here.  Somewhere around that.

6.5 - Is that bottom staple rusty or is it just the lighting and angle?

I inherited a run of SI from 1 on from an Uncle. Unfortunately the swimsuit issues, Conigliaro (black eye) and the Steve Prefontaine
issue were missing. I suspect my cousin "appropriated" the swimsuit issues as soon as they arrived...
