Did Todd McFarlane steal Steve Geigers swag?

That is not a McFarlane cover. Geiger did many Hulk covers around this time, and this is one of them. The faces of the people in the background look nothing like McFarlane.

Disagree entirely. See DD #241. Geiger DID do many Hulk covers around this time...but not this one. The Hulk is what would become classic McFarlane back-lighting.

Here are other Geiger Hulk covers. Please tell me that the current one under discussion is not in the exact same style.

McFarlane -- though he started pencilling interiors at issue #330 -- didn't do a cover until #340, also says to me that it's Geiger. The original art to the cover has been sold as Geiger (when, if McFarlane touched it in any way, would probably increase its value 5-fold). I don't know why this is even an issue.

I agree on most points but this isnt entirely accurate.

Ack! You're right! (Tom Morgan is an odd choice of inkers for McFarlane.)

It certainly doesnt strike as mcfarlane for sure....or at least the mcfarlane we have come to know. Classic pre-geiger mcfarlane lmao

Early McFarlane -- especially his stuff on Infinity Inc -- was really heavy into odd page layouts. Long, vertical panels. Floating heads. That sort of thing. I don't know if he was told NOT to do that when he started getting work at Marvel, but his style changed and his storytelling improved a lot.

One of the main crazy things is that McFarlane LOVED the shadow face thing. He did it in Infinity Inc. a lot and - just like RCheli says - at the same time he was doing lots of weird layout stuff.  So if it does play out that it is 100% Geiger, it is so ironic that it utilizes one TMac's favorite devices.

As Green noted, McFarlane's first Hulk issue included the cover.

The reason this is an issue is because this cover stands out from the rest of the Geiger run.

THIS is Geiger:

Geiger's hulk had a generally square face.

And this:

But this...

Contains elements that are decidedly non-Geiger, including the back lit Hulk and the cross-hatching shadow on Hulk's left leg.

Too bad there's no Felix...that would clinch it.

Now...I'm not saying it isn't Geiger...but it DOES stand out from the rest of the #331-339 run, with the exception of #337, which might have McFarlane elements to it, too:

I could be totally wrong...but to my eye, it looks like Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Cyclops are McFarlane lines, especially with that flippy 80s hair that McFarlane loved on his women.
