Piece Missing from Cover?
2 2

According to the Grading Guide that is common.

2.0 GOOD (GD):
Shows substantial wear; often considered a "reading copy." Cover shows significant wear and may even be detached. Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases completely absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present.

"The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher."

Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is likely. May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Moderate interior tears may be present.

What about these two books?  The piece missing from X-men #2 is 1/4” X 1/2” and from #181 is a little bigger like 1/2” X 1/2” both the back covers look good and spines are ok (181 has some tape) IMG_2066.thumb.jpeg.1e53eb6b463bee55c686bc7d2a10a27d.jpegbooks are complete.  These are the only two books I have with pieces that big out.  I don’t really like having the pieces out I was thinking about using facsimile covers to replace the missing pieces using japanese rice paper and wheat paste.  Could I get a higher conserved grade if I did that?  Maybe like 3.5 or 4.0 conserved?  Sorry if my question is dumb just trying to make my books look better

You should probably take clear pics of the front/rear covers, inside front/rear covers, splash page and centerfold and post them in the https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/.

One book per post, 3 books per day.

Always wondered why someone cut this section out.

Apparently this was a way for newsstand owners to get credit for unsold copies, just like a remainder copy where they removed the top 1/4- 1/3 of the cover and sent it back to the distributor. According to the grading standards books with the price box cut out can only receive a GD 2.0 if they are a higher graded copy, if it is a lower grade book, it will be graded accordingly.

2.0 GOOD (GD): The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher.
