Classic electrocution cover by Odgen Whitney! In my opinion the best Manhunt cover. Some may prefer #14 but I like #2.

There is a lot to take in on this cover. You have two servants trying to strap a struggling gorgeous girl into “old sparky” and attach an electrode cap. You have the crazy doctor with hairy paws taking this all in while sipping wine and having a smoke. And all of this is intensified by the brilliant colors! It just doesn’t get much better than this.

Manhunt #2 doesn’t come up for sale that often. I know it’s only a 3.0 but that cover presents spectacularly!

Ghost Comics #1 (CGC 3.5 with off-white to white pages) $650:  SOLD!

The beginning of Maurice Whitman’s super covers for this sought-after Fiction House pre-code horror series. Horror and Good Girl Art at its best. A solid and clean cover presents very well for this VG- grade.

A 4.5 sold in January 2019 for $1300.

Eerie #11 (CGC 7.0 cream to off-white pages) $875: SOLD!

A spookish skull cover by A. C. Hollingsworth highlights this 1943 Eerie classic. Nicely centered with superb colors and a clean cover.  With only 14 universal books in the census this is a tough book to come by. And only 2 books have been added to the census in almost 4 years. An 8.0 sold on February 10, 2019 for $1128. This impressive 7.0 is quite a bargain.

Planet Comics #20 (CGC 5.0 with off-white to white pages) $875:  SOLD!

Nice centering and solid colors highlight this early Zolnerowich cover. There is a small piece of tape on the bottom of the spine. Also, small pieces are out of both the left and right bottom corners of the back cover that goes thru the book. Cover presents extremely well considering these issues.

A 3.5 sold for $700 in December 2018.

Strange Tales is one of the most desired Atlas Pre-Code Horror titles. This issue has an incredibly clean black cover by Sol Brodsky. Artists include Joe Sinnott, Joe Maneely, Gil Evans, Louis Ravielli and Ed Goldfarb. This is a very attractive mid-grade PCH at a very affordable price. Last GPA sale was in January 2019 for a 5.5 at $450.

Pictorial Romances #20 (CGC 4.5 with cream to off-white pages) $1300  $1150 $1100:

Another remarkable St. John Baker cover. They don’t get much prettier than this. A colorful 16-page story by Dana Dutch with Baker’s artwork highlight this 100-page beauty of passion, heartbreak, flirtation and true love. A 4.5 book with a 6.5 looking cover.

Another scarce Baker book with only 10 in the census. Tough to own in any grade. The highest grade for this issue is only 6.5 which makes this 4.5 even that much more desirable.

You won’t see this book in the CGC census summary but you will find certification details. CGC is working on getting the census updated.

A 6.0 sold on Heritage for $1680 in July 2018. Take a look at that cover. The same signature is on the cover in two places. I much prefer my 4.5 over that 6.0.

If you’re a crime comic aficionado Crime Does Not Pay #33 must be in your collection. One of the most sought after crime comics this sits as number 5 in Overstreet’s Top 10 Crime Comics.

This classic hanging corpses and axe murderer cover by Charles Biro is difficult to obtain in any grade and especially in high-grade.

When you consider that comics were written for kids, it’s hard to believe you could have such a violent and shocking cover in 1944. Yet here it is.

A chilling but mesmerizing classic cover!
