It's difficult to say if it was a result of any hearings. Prior to the hearings there were calls all over America for kids to turn books in and burn 'em. They had drives run by schools, pta's scout groups etc. This is one of those publicity shots for a local paper prior to the burning. Heartbreaking really.

JIUW 1 has nice Wolverton Art, and the Mysterious Stories is very Frazetta-esqu, I think the art is by Angelo Torres, a Fleagle (part of Frazetta and Williamson's gang) so thats why they look so similar. Great cover!
