One of his better interpretations, and quite subtle; scowling rather than shouting or screaming.

I like the reflection on the S-shield on the chest. Looks like he's got that Magic Saran-Wrap from Superman II working again.

He drew feet for the previous issue, Superman #8. 

Ankles are a little thin, and the right foot is better suited for a horseshoe instead of a boot. But he passed. That bird at the top right looks happy, probably because Liefeld didn't draw any feet on him.

The bird's there to have at least one thing in the pic screaming for no discernible reason.

RL doesn't know birds have feet! 

The S symbol looks better on #8 than #9 

His facial expression here looks like he just found out you ate the last donut!

His faces are all so similar.  There is nothing "Superman"  about it.  No s curl, nothing. Just another pouty/angry well built young guy. Meh.

It's possible that some people believe that birds fully retract their legs, just like a plane does with its undercarriage after takeoff.

It's an intense look that more suits a darker-minded character such as Batman.

You’re spot on. Artists should mostly draw Superman the way Morrison and Quitely interpreted him in All-Star Superman. A being as powerful and as invulnerable as Supes shouldn’t  be tense all the time. He has nothing to fear and should be calm and relaxed.

I was going to say supes looked like an angry child though....
