Spoiler

"This Eternals leak from 4Chan was posted yesterday, but I can't find the link for it. I think it got deleted. I don't trust 4Chan but everything I read here looks factual:

Thousands of years ago, the Celestials came to Earth and experimented on humans, creating Deviants and Eternals. Deviants are purple, mindless monsters, and Eternals are humanoid gods with magical abilities. For years, both species fought for dominance in the cosmos. The main planet for Eternals is Olympia, after Titan fell. Eternals are forbidden from having children or mingling with humans. Eternals think lowly of humans and deem themselves superior.

Sersi (Gemma Chan) is a naive and childish soldier who relishes interacting with humans. Ikaris (Richard Madden) is the most powerful Eternal in Olympia who is married with two kids. Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) is a mute and deaf speedster who is discriminated against in this society. Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) is the most intelligent man in the city, who builds weapons and armor despite being a pacifist. Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) is the comedic relief and a refugee from Titan, who is an expert swordsman. Thena (Angelina Jolie) is a mysterious and aggressive commander of the Olympian military. Gilgamesh (Don Lee) is an extremist who is exiled from the city after leading a failed uprising. Druig (Barry Keoghan) is a loner and a refugee from Titan. Ajak (Salma Hayek) is the matriarch of the Eternals who can heal with a kiss.

The Eternals recieve news about the activities of Earth from a Black Knight, a servant who wields the Ebony Blade and guards humanity from the Deviants when the Eternals are occupied. The Black Knight of this generation is Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington). Him and Sersi fall in love. Ajak forbids the relationship. Sersi enlists the help of Sprite (Lia McHugh) for wisdom. Sprite says that there is an ancient gravesite called the Tomb of the Gods that is enchanted with Asgardian magic that can grant the wish of anyone who wishes for it, as long as they deliver the Ebony Blade. Sersi steals it from Dane and wishes for her to become human.

The spell works but quickly backfires. Instead of just Sersi becoming human, Makkari, Phastos, Kingo, Sprite, Druig, Ikaris, and Thena become human as well, and they do not remember their past lives. Dane Whitman is also no longer the Black Knight but an archeologist. In this new reality, Gilgamesh's uprising succeeded, and the Eternals have become world conquerors all around the galaxy, and Ajak is exiled.

Sersi is the only one whose memories are intact, and she discovers that there are Deviants on Earth, and Gilgamesh's forces are arriving. To prevent a mass war, Sersi must find her friends and jog their memories to prevent a catastrophe.

It is revealed that Sprite tricked Sersi. She wished for all the Eternals to become human long ago, but she didn't have access to the Ebony Blade. Instead of the Tomb fulfilling Sersi's wish, it just simply granted Sprite's since she asked first. She was tired of being treated like a kid.

The story has numerous flashbacks to the past. We will see ancient civilizations both on Earth and in space. We will see a young Odin and a young Thanos."

Marvel Releases New Eternals Synopsis

Quote

The new year is here, and that means there's plenty to look forward to on the comic front. For the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will be busy on both the small and big screen. November will see the awaited release of The Eternals, and a brand-new synopsis has gone live for the superhero flick.

The description went live today ahead of a Disney investor's meeting. Courtesy of Marvel Studios, the lengthy synopsis teases the The Eternals' villain and describes each of its main characters.

"Marvel Studios' The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants," the synopsis explains.

Continuing, a character breakdown is given. From Gemma Chan to Salma Hayak, the cast of The Eternals is stacked, and each star will have an intriguing role to play.

"The outstanding ensemble cast include Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayak as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-coul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as the aloof longer Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harrington was cast as Dane Whitman."

What would be interesting is if the film includes the secret romantic relationship Thena has with the Deviant Kro, a sub-plotline from the original Kirby series.

I remember there was debate here about Eternals taking place in the past and being a prequel of sorts. Looks like the movie takes place in the present.

NOW it appears to take place in the present. The previous summary and Feige stage overview may have left some assuming the film would take us back through their origins.

It may briefly touch on their origins (naturally). But they need to move Phase 4 forward post-Endgame. So fixating on the past could be confusing. Though then we have Black Widow taking a trip back in time.

Perhaps Eternals is the true kick-off for Phase Four. I’m sure Widow will introduce elements for the future of the MCU, though.

What's the point of making a movie about a bunch of people who have been around since pre-history if you're not going to show it? I liken it to this movie called the Highlander. The main character has also lived forever and rather than just tell us that he cannot die the filmmakers show the man living through time in substantial chunks of the movie. Yes, I want to see Ajak doing her thing in Mayan times and Sersi working her magic in Ancient Greece or King Arthur's court. Can't wait for Eternals.
