Yeah, with respect OP, it seems like you are pretty sure it is a 9.8 and the consensus is that it's just shy of that mark. So not sure what else there is to say. Are you going to submit it?

I probably will. I'm pretty confident it is a 9.8, that is true. I have done quite a bit of scouting to see what defects are present on current 9.8s. The old Sandman comics have a lot of problems with them. The spine tick on the front, for example, is seen with every issue.

Thanks for the comment! I'm not too worried about the spine tick on the front. That seems to be a manufacturing defect. I definitely see the second spine tick though (not too sure about the other one). Either way, it looks like it will grade high. 

Here are some other copies of 9.8s on eBay. They all look pretty ugly, so I think that my ugly copy has a chance too :)
