  Happy Saint Patrick's Day:)

Today I will be listing raw Detective comics from my collection. Most of these I've had for quite a while, I'm just downsizing a little and I've been collecting some other titles. I'm also doing some renovations so expect maybe 2 more sales after this one.

There are over 50 books in this sale, so I'm going to split it.    The first session will end around Noon  (EST) and I'll continue tonight at about 7:30 pm.

There are some scarce issues in this group. I sold a bunch of my Detectives last year, these are most of the ones I put aside to keep.

I take Paypal, MO's  or checks.

Shipping in the US is $6.00 for a well packed Flat Rate envelope. I use at least one Gator board plus cardboard. Someone once told me you could drive a truck over the Gator boards, I have not tried that;) but they are strong. I can fit up to 2 books safely in a FR envelope, after that I'll use a box (no extra charge). If you want to start with a box, I charge exact shipping. If you are out of the US, I'll ship however you'd like, for the exact amount. 

Out of the US, please pm me before buying if you need a shipping price it's obviously a little more expensive, if you don't care about the shipping prices, then post take its, it's fine. 

 

I pay for private insurance so that is included. If the book is over $250, it must go signature required. That means if you are out of the US and it's over $250 it has to go priority or Fedex.

 

I take returns for any reason, but you must let me know within 3 days of receipt and the book must be returned within 7 days shipped the way I sent it and packed it.. Buyer pays return shipping.

 

First Take it  wins, but I must see the take it if it's in a pm, if I have not acknowledged a take it in a pm, and someone posts one on the boards, then the board one wins (because it's sometimes hard to see the time in a PM).

 

Payment is due within 3 days unless we have an agreement about time  payments before you post a take it. 

All my comics come from a smoke free home. To the best of my knowledge none of these books have been pressed.

There are a lot of pictures, I have inside pictures for each book. Those will be in spoilers. It takes some time to load them.

 

Detective Comics #99, Early Penguin Cover. 1945. Nice pages, nice color. There is a tear on the right edge that once had a piece of tape on it. It looks like there is some residual glue. There is a tear on the back cover that goes through the next page, There is some amateur glue on the tear. The bottom staple is detached from the cover. Grade is Apparent VG. Probably would have graded Good+ without the glue. Bin is $295 sold to El_Sapo @10% off

Detective Comics #101, Alfred gets involved! 1945

Nice color, nice paper. There is a piece off the top of the first page (no art is harmed;) a tear on the centerfold, and the bottom staple is detached, but that's ok, because the top one is barely hanging on.

Grade is Good- (1.8) Bin is $150.00

Detective 161 Motorcycle cover. 1950. Robot Man story, I love the Robot Man series:) Pages are nice, there are two tears on the front cover with a piece of tape on the front and another on the back. Pages are nice, color is nice. Grade is Good+ (2.5) or a little better. Bin is $115.00  sold to Norrin's Lawyer

Detective #177, Robberies in the Bat- Cave 1951, this is a 40 page book plus the covers. Nice color and pages, with  a large stain on the back, there is a piece off lower right and overall light creasing. There are a few pieces of tape on the inside at the spine, I don't see any splits there, so it was probably a kid with a new roll of tape;) . .It's not a common issue. Grade is Good+ (2.5) Bin is $85.00  sold to El_Sapo  @ 10% off

Detective #186 , a rather hard to find 40 page issue from 1952. The Flying Bat Cave. There is a small piece off the lower right corner and some slight ripples on the right edge and a small piece of tape  inside. Grade is Gd+ (2.5)

Detective #188, Warning to Batman! Another 40 page issue from 1952. Robotman becomes a robot..;)

Nice color, nice pages, lots of staining inside the front cover and on the back . Staple is detached at the top of the centerfold. Grade is VG (4.0) It's a little better than that structurally but I lowered it for the staining Bin is $145 sold to ttfitz

Detective #189, Bondage cover! Another 20 page relatively scarce issue from 1952. Welcome to the “Aqua Lair” a story with a twist;)

Robotman story and a cover that must have made Wertham cringe;)sold to Norrin's Lawyer

The book has nice color, a Robotman story, creasing near the spine front and on the back near the bottom. There is a small piece off the bottom front, small tears at the upper staple and some staining inside the cover. There is only one for sale on eBay and it's pretty low grade. A 3.5 sold a month ago for $168. This one might be closer to VG, but I'm going to say VG- (3.5) because of that small piece missing. Bin is $150

Detective #190 another bondage cover from 1952, again 40 pages and relatively scarce. Batman loses his memory (again;) and Robin retells his origin.
