Thoughts on gloss smear?

I picked up a Goon #1 the other day at a qualified 9.0. Grader's notes are: light soiling right center of front cover medium, light gloss smear top of front cover. I couldn't see these flaws through the slab so I cracked it to get a closer look.

There was a little smudge of something to the right which I was able to wipe off. My main question is about the gloss smear. I definitely see it but it's only visible in the right light. It's almost like a light abrasive was quickly brushed on a portion of the cover causing the gloss to wear away. I'm pretty sure nothing can be done about this, but I just want to make sure. Anyone else have a note like this before and is there a remedy? I'm kinda shocked this book isn't at least 9.2, it's in pretty excellent shape. Dropping it down to a 9.0 for a light gloss smear seems intense! Tried my best to get a picture of it.
