Hi, first post  here. Online auction  (Ebay) has this marvel spotlight listed with a potential of being a 9.4 to 9.6 in the title. Im a newbie when it comes to grading but

looking at this pic of the corner itself (of  a raw unrestored book). Is it even possible to achieve a 9.4-9.6 starting with a corner as this?

here is a link to the actual item on eBay. I know grading is subjective, but a 9.4 or 9.6 on this comic? Any thoughts?

With a corner like that I'd hesitate paying anything above 9.0 price.

My advice would be don't buy the book.  As you've discovered, the book is badly overgraded, and not just for the lower right corner, as what little is shown of the bottom edge looks rough as well.  Without the comic in hand and with the poorly lit and small pictures offered by the seller, there's no telling how many other grade-reducing defects are on this book.

There's a pic that shows what looks like a clear full break in color even if its a hairline. I think it looks like an 8.5.

Also, if an issue like that is truly a NM copy wouldn't the seller at least spend the 75 to get it graded considering the thousands he/she would lose when trying to sell raw?
