I'm with you on that, The Superman 289 must have been one of the last comics I bought of the spinner and I wasn't impressed then.

Someone please, for the love of God, tell me why Don Rickles is on that cover.

Also, I had read how DC wouldn't let Kirby draw Superman's face, I guess this example is proof.  It's very strange to see two characters so clearly drawn by different people -- it's a composite even before you add the photo.

HA! I just listed this one in my sales thread. I bought it because it is so groovy! This is a much nicer copy than mine though. I really dig the old photo covers like this one and Submariner 7.

I believe FF #33 is the first photo-montage cover of the Silver Age, but of course it's not of New York City.
