Dane Whitman/Black Knight First Appearance #47 or #48?

I never actually read either issue but was curious what some "Avengers Experts" on the thread think on the subject. From my understanding #47 (meh cover) is the the first appearance of Dane Whitman who becomes the Black Knight in the following issue #48 (cool cover). So technically speaking #48 would be the first appearance of the Black Knight but which one would be the "key" Black Knight issue or are they both "key" issues?

I'm of the opinion that the key would be the first appearance of Dane Whitman.  Much in the same way that the first appearance of Carol Danvers in MSH 13 is considered to be the key rather than her first appearance as Ms. Marvel or Captain Marvel.

#48 is his first appearance as the Black Knight, but the Black Knight as a legacy character goes back much much farther (1955).

Although those who don't read the books might just want the cover of #48.

These are just my opinions though :)

Avengers #47 has a flaccid yellow cover so I would vote for the key being Avengers #48 (a la Hulk #180 vs #181). I think Dane Whitman is a relative/nephew (?) of the Atlas Black Knight #1 (1955)?

Hulk 180 only has a cameo on the last panel of Wolverine. Avengers 47 has a story of Dane Whitman.
