They are absolutely hammering ANY type of staining...even very light stains seem to come with at least a full-point penalty. My bewilderment continues. Had what I thought was an easy 9.2 and it came back an 8.5 because of a light stain (It took me about 5 minutes to find it) a bit smaller than a dime. On some books I've sent in they have called foxing as stains and hammered the grade. I've even had books that were cracked out and resubbed come back in lower grades.
