Here are some bound volumes I had made up by the local bookbinder that does the Australian Parliament records. They did a lovely job (as you'd expect).

I had all of the Gemstone Weird Science Fantasy and Incredible Science Fiction copies put into one volume.

There was plenty of room for some more, so I added various other copies, such as Impact #1 and this one:

That volume is redundant now that the Fantagraphics/Dark Horse hardcover series has covered those titles in larger size and with better paper stock, but it's still nice.

The other volumes I had done (GA purists please turn away now) was the final 35 issues of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. I started buying the floppies around #38 and have reprinted volumes of the earlier ones, but these cover the last few story arcs. They are a much better way to reread this series than either floppies or trades. And #75 The Tempest is one of my favourite comics of all time, so it's great to have it in such a nice format.

So funny Andrew. Back in the day, I jumped onto Sandman on the exact same issue!, and have the exact same run of floppies to this day. I never quite know what to do with them as IMO they sit kind of awkwardly on the bookcase with the early trades. That is a cool solution.

Nice! I might know where that originally came from. I bought a Wings #1-12 bound volume from a guy at SDCC many years ago. He also had a Planet #13-24. He wouldn't sell it to me though. I begged and pleaded but he said he wanted to keep it. I later found out he eventually sold it to someone else. Anyway, he also said he had Planet #1-12 and Fight #1-12 which he had already sold. These might have been from that volume...

Where do you find these beauties ???  What’s the biggest key you own in a bound volume ?

I beat the bushes and search them out. I buy them whenever they appear. Got a couple of guys that look out for me as well. I really like them. Biggest key? Not sure. I prefer to look at these as a set not to be broken up. So any key, comes with the set. Most are not really earth shaking but I have some nice ones.

I don't have this in hand yet but am very much looking forward to seeing it in person. This is the first bound volume in my collection. It containing Lorna Doone was the deciding factor in my purchasing it!!!

Very nice.  I've actually got three copies of the 1st edition Lorna Doone, but they're all very low grade.   Definitely a book that has some room to grow still, though.

Nice!  Welcome to the world of bound volumes! Such a fun way to collect runs to read and enjoy. I used to fund them and they were usually real reasonable. Now, depending on contents, they have like everything else, have gotten quite expensive. Lorna Done and Mysteries are great books!

Thanks! I picked this up a few months ago and decided to keep an eye out for a first printing. This is the best I've seen so far.

Thanks @Robot Man!!! I've always thought having a few editions for the comic room would be fun. They ARE expensive these days, from what I've seen. This one wasn't bad, I think it was $240 before tax, shipping, etc... I'm ok with that price, so it's fine by me. The challenge will be to find a few others, preferably different titles and publishers. No hurry for me, just take them as I find them. (thumbsu

Seems to me, they always turn up when you least expect them. One of my favorite surprises were the couple I first posted in this thread. Flea market find. Guy had a volume of 1952 Hot Rod magazines. I asked him how much and he said "the Hot Rod is $15. and the comics are $10. each". Comic ones? They were closed up under the Hot Rod one. 4 comic volumes some body had bound by year. Probably ones he had bound of the stands.  No real markings on the books. I about wet my pants when I opened them! I just paid the man what he wanted for all of them and took off! Some of the others, I paid what I thought at the time was a little steep maybe but who knew what future comic prices would end up going to.

Wow, $10 a piece ... that's incredible!!! Yeah, sometimes when you get a deal like that, ya pay and get outta there before someone comes along and changes your luck! (thumbsu

I used to turn up my nose at formerly-bound comics, but at the right price point... I'm a believer! I picked up a bunch of formerly bound MLJs this year. All these books have light trimming and some small holes and scuffs on the spines, but the cover colors and overall freshness are super appealing.

I believe those might have come from Terry O'Neil. I bought a few as well and would have bought some more but I just thought the price was just a bit to "aggressive" for me.
