Could these be a 9.8?

As some of you might have seen I have been annoying people with my WTB Godzilla thread :roflmao:.  I saw these Godzilla #6, 12, 17 on eBAY and wondered what you all thought and if it could be a 9.8?  There appears to be a little ding on the back left lower corner of the #12. My grading is a little weak so thanks for any input!

I do this all the time on eBay. Some people list their comics as NM+ and they're not even close. Others will say VF and they are near perfect. IDK, lol. It's tough to buy on eBay sometimes because of this. There has to be good photos. These books do look nice though. 9.2 to 9.4 I think but I'm just getting started myself...

If you are seriously looking for 9.8 books and you are new to grading at this level, just buy slabbed copies. As a general rule, buying raw books off ebay with half-assed photos you are basically playing the lottery.

Easier said then done. I have been looking for 9.8’s slabed to no avail , Godzilla’s (Marvel 1977) #’s 6,12,13,24:tonofbricks:. Hence I’m looking for potential 9.8 raws at this point.

Ah, gotcha. Take a look at wwcomics.com — looks like they have a lot of HG Godzilla raws in inventory. Good luck!

I didn't look any further than the #6. Top right corner, diagonal crease, breaks color. That's enough there to eliminate 9.8 without even looking further at the book..

The problem is everyone is out to find a bargain with raw books as graded books cost so much more, I've brought  plenty of raw books listed at NM+ and once I've received the books they are 9.0s at best.

Its a gamble that's for sure

Yep...you win some, you lose some...;)

And you've just described the way a 9.8 pre-screen works...well done, sir!   (thumbsu

Kodos to WWcomic!  I gambled and bought this raw Godzilla #17 from them, they graded it as 9.6/9.8 OWW.  It came back a 9.8 WP! This is a tough issue to get. Mine increased the census count to 7...

that's exactly what I do and feel, unless your getting an amazing deal only then would the gamble be worth it but it is a gamble.
