:hi:

Looking for an opinion on this Mighty Thor #134 - 1st High Evolutionary.

Book is complete, no missing pages, rips, etc. There is a miscut and slight miswrap though.

I would give it a 5.0. I think with a cleaning would help out as well. Looking at the back of the book, the color on it can be cleaned to lighten it up. Love me some Thor. I have the whole complete run from JIM #83 to present. Good luck on your book brother.

I always like to grade conservatively but you guys are harsh.

I know my eyesight is not good but all I see other that the mistrimmed top edge is slight wear by Thor's head in the Marvel Comics Group logo, slight creasing by the staples and a wrinkle on the bottom left of the back cover.

Without being able to see this book up close in person and not knowing how the miscut cover affects the grade I would grade this book at a...

7.0 FINE/VERY FINE (FN/VF):  Back to Top
An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with outstanding eye appeal. A small accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear beginning to show, possibly including minor creases. Corners may be blunted. Inks are generally bright with a moderate reduction in reflectivity. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor foxing. The slightest spine roll may be present, as well as a possible moderate color break. Staples may show some discoloration. Slight staple tears and a small accumulation of light stress lines may be present. Slight rust migration. Paper is cream to tan. Centerfold is mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.

6.5 FINE+ (FN+):  Back to Top
Fits the criteria for Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

well I'm certainly not qualified to be a teacher on  this. I go off a copy of the Overstreet grading guide I have, which isn't the CGC guide, but there's no detailed public list of what that is.

If I double click on the pic enough I get an enlarged shot then I just try to come up with a count of defects.   The O/S guide has an explanation of quantifying 'minor' vs 'large' etc accumulation of defects and a chart of ranges of defects per grade level.

of course, that's just a general guide as severity of defects matters and other things.  There's also explanations of the types of defects per grade distinction. With spine tics which are close together - is that considered 1 or 2?

then I try and find online graded copies and compare them against the range which i came up with.  I wasn't successful in finding examples in this case

Anyway that's my approach and I will steal from CGC when I say I don't guarantee my grade!

major defects: small color breaking spine tics and color rub (front and back cover spine), minor corner and edge wear, bottom cover overhang.

This book always looks dull and dirty due to the graphics, which are grey and grainy.  this is actually a pretty nice copy that lies flat with strong colors.

CGC 7.0

Here's a 7.0 copy that looks worse than yours and a 7.5 that looks better:

I’ll safely say 7.0. Possibly 7.5. Get it pressed and cleaned
