MIL0S
Similar to the Mignola and Tim Sale threads, how about one for Mark Schultz? I saw Mark today at the ECCC and picked up a cool dino piece and he was nice enough to do couple small sketches in my books. He told me the prelim was for an unused wine bottle label for CapRock winery located in the Texas panhandle circa 2011. By any chance does anyone have pictures of the final labels he illustrated? Popular Post Brian Peck
Here is the published art and prelim for Comics Journal #150 cover which had a great interview with Mark Schultz. I got the prelim in 2005, and just missed getting the published cover. Fast forward to last year and I got a 2nd chnace and was able to add it to me collection. One of my favorite pieces by Mark. Love the whimsical feel to the artwork. In the process of getting the published cover framed. This one's a bit tricky can't do it the sual way. Will post a pic when its framed Edited May 18, 2019 by Brian Peck Twanj, jaykza, Unca Ben and 3 others

I know the satisfaction of reuniting a prelim and finished piece, I have a couple of John Buscema pieces like that.
Ted_L
That Xenozoic #13 cover is amazing!!! Here's my one example -- the alternate cover to Fantastic Five #2 from 1999. I believe this may be Mark Schultz's only Marvel cover (not counting Xenozoic reprints), but let me know if that's not the case. Brian Peck
A few years ago I got this artwork at SSDC. I asked Mark about it and he isn't sure what it was for, possibly an ad. Don't think its a con drawing or commission, since he signed it "M Schultz" but also signed it "Mark Schultz 10/10/88". Probably when he sold the artwork. Anyone recognize it? jaykza, Unca Ben and BCarter27

BitterOldMan
Commission from 2011 published in Carbon. Mark added the ankylosaurus per my request. Took forever to get on his commission list. I pestered him every year at SDCC in a polite manner. Edited May 19, 2019 by BitterOldMan Unca Ben, BCarter27, AnkurJ and 1 other

Brian Peck
I was first exposed to Mark's work with his Xenozoic Tales back in the 80s. Loved his inks you could see he was influenced by Raymond, Williamson and Wood, one of the best inkers to come out 80s independent comics. His skills grew over the years, I especially liked his dry brush technique, one of the best examples was this cover for Captain Gravity TPB. GotSuperPowers?
Can someone educate me on what Mark would charge for a piece these days, published or unpublished?
Brian Peck
Not sure on the price but it would be a long wait.

Will_K
He recently had pieces from his Storms at Sea book (and other art) at a show. $6,000 for finished (published, 11 x 14) pieces from Storms at Sea. I'm not sure if there were others from SaS. But they were also $6,000. A few color pieces (or they had color) around 11 x 17 were over $10,000. I remember one was $14,000. MIL0S
He also had 9” x 12” tight shaded pencil “prelim” illustrations for 2K. ( he called them prelims because they were used for later larger finished illustrations but they were not your typical prelims). 4 minutes ago, GotSuperPowers? said: Cool, thank you for ending that dream! Will_K
If it makes you feel better, his prelims are considerably less. I just don't recall the pricing. He still had some from Storms at Sea.
