I accidentally attended a big UFO conference in Laughlin a few years back. Checked into the hotel to find some fancy conference going on. Turned out to be a UFO fan fest. I got free admission from a casino host to most of the events and crashed the cocktail party.  Free booze and a room full of true believers should have been more fun that it was.

actually.

FYI: It's mathematically more likely than not that humanoid life exists somewhere out there, but...

You'll never meet them in your lifetime. If we track life 100 million light years away, not only are we viewing the past, but it would take 100 million years (at light speed) to travel there. We wouldn't know what it's like now. And vice-versa. So, I don't understand the alien fetish.

The real question is "Do they have comics?" And has Captain Marvel visited them to give them proper publishing procedures?

I don't know....I think flat earthers are just as bad. I mean something that gives your life purpose...I guess.

Are you serious?

People who obsess with aliens are at least obsessed with something real.

Flat Earthers are not "just as bad". They're literally the Worst of the Worst...

If the hobby is a Monopoly board, IMSM is its Baltic Avenue.

I understand you got into this book in an attempt to corner the market. You admitted that you thought there were many less copies than there are, and by acquiring a few hundred, you could become the markets specialist in that book. Not a bad plan, but the wrong book as not only is there a tremendous supply of the book, but there is also very little demand for it.

So why the continued infatuation with the book?

Again, I have been misquoted again and again. I will only touch this here ONE time:

On the eBay Chat Boards( to which I have been given credit for its demise - not true but I will TAKE any credit for that thanx):

I made several posts (paraphrasing) in regarding HIGH GRADE copies. I made a estimate of 300 HIGH GRADE still out there. The detractors against CAL( who will remain nameless for now) took my every syllable, every post and turned me into the Ultimate Villain of the eBay/Comic Book world. Like Trump, I decided to FIGHT BACK. Not letting insults go unresponded, etc. I am NOT anyone's punching bag, trust me. And several of them have been jettisoned off here AND eBay, and I am still here and will continue to be here as long as I want and anywhere I wish to be. I have and will continue to take ALL of them on.

And the GPA showed one year( I forget the exact year, I THINK it was 2003) that only THREE( 3) CGC's IMSM's sold that year. Why? Because I had them all, or most of them.

Having over 5,000 raw copies and 187 encapsulated, I DID come close to "corner the market" and NUMEROUS Forumites here and eBay/Yahoo would email me/call me( my number was public back in the day before I got threatening calls from Kansas city area and Massachusetts area( a great hint of where these Forumites live for the long-termers here - don't think for ONE SECOND I forgot) and sold them privately person-to-person.

Not a bad plan? It was a GREAT plan. This IMSM issue has more than tripled in value according to Overstreet Guides since 2000, the year I started mass buying.

"Little demand for it"? You sound like Rashka, who called IMSM a "retarded book". This is now a good seller. I will get that YouTube video to show my past sales.

Why the continued infatuation with the book?

That is the REAL question. But I have already given that answer several times here. The CAL detractors have CAL Derangement Syndrome ( CDS). I love it!!!

CAL2 who is the KING of IMSM, and can't let that go just yet...

Looking at today's collectors, do you see any reason westerners or funny animal books will gather momentum?

Disney...

There are certain Disney books which resonate solely with the Disney crowd. They don't collect any other comics but collect Disneyana and that is definitely a part of it.

This is still part of the Comic Book hobby. To tolerate CAL, one needs patience, and some understanding. Yes, CAL is not for everybody.

Maybe YOU can start that thread. I am NOT a Newbie. Trust me.

CAL2 who uses the Seniority card when necessary...
