I disagree.

To someone with a trained eye and an extensive education and background in the world of fine art, this piece is exceptional for many reasons.  I don't think I've mentioned it before, but one with my background can tell that this piece was done by someone who truly understands the subtle nuances of beauty and emotion and how to bring them together.  The juxtaposition of the mans muscular body and the soft flowing linen is a technique that's been used in paintings for over 700 years to depict the dichotomy between good and evil.  And the subtle shading and muted colors of the participants foreshadow the inevitable outcome.  The composition is exquisite and the use of perspective is some of the best I've ever seen in any work of art.  Plus, the chick has a great butthole.

I think i brought this cover up last year during the Savage Dragon 225 fiasco. Never got an answer from CGC.

As graphic movies and 'adult' entertainment are all around todays young 'uns via the net, some comics are making the step into R rated territory to 'keep up' with other media.

Tijuana Bibles were around 60-80 odd yrs ago?

Everyone forgotten "Crossed" - man , that's as bad as it can possibly get - but it was confined to the insides.

'Black Rose' was another - but way less pornographic than this

Younger people are much less sanitised than the 30+ and older age group. Comics are just following the curve.

Eventually we will see more and more of it.

If it rocks your boat, then buy it, if not don't - but CGC not grading it is baffling.

If they are making a stand - what against?

The Robert Crumb book above shows they have already slabbed 'porn' type covers. maybe because this is more 'realistic' - dunno.

There is way worse out there (Hell, The Boys is now a TV show, and that was pretty full-on)

Seems very King Kanute like tbh.

As someone pointed out - PGX will almost certainly slab it - because no-one else will! :flipbait:

I don't see any actual penetration on the cover of this book, unless it's hidden by the little squares blocking out the nudity. Again, if there is no penetration I don't think CGC has an issue grading --- regardless of how raunchy the cover is.

I picked these up at Heroes Con this weekend. Asking Vanessa del ray and Tolay to sign these covers was hilariously awkward.

I'd love to hear more about that!

One time I brought a copy of Penthouse Comix to Cully Hamner to sign, who exclaimed "Aw, man, you brought my PORN comics!" I'd like to think the exasperated tone was for humorous effect. At least that's what I tell myself. It was funny, regardless.

honestly, i think they're rejecting this cover because that chick is wearing her shoes in bed, which goes beyond the pale.  i mean, you can't swing a dead ferret without hitting an image of an exposed butthole, but images of people who wear their filthy, germ-ridden shoes in bed like this? i can't decide if i am more aghast or queasy

Yeah, all joking aside, I don't see why they care one way or the other as far as what they slab. Money is green, take the book.

Yeah, the whole "no penetration" rule is a bummer. The art on these covers are stunning, from an art perspective. Found out during Heroes Con that neither CGC or it's competitors would slab these books. It's a shame, as there art is art! I understand if they don't want to slab real nude pics of people but as a fan of all forms of art, it is just that, art by a great artist. I think penetration in art is still really taboo, especially if you look at other media sites that won't let even art with nudity be displayed. Maybe we can get a petition going to have these books slabbed!!!

It's porn. Regardless of how "artistic" it may be, it's porn. If they were to slab that, their brand would come to be associated with it...regardless of whatever else they did. I don't want CGC to become associated, in any way, to any degree, with promoting porn. I'm sure I'm not alone. And slabbing porn would be tacit approval, regardless of disclaimers made.

I don't like the acres of porn sold at local "comic shows"; it's not something that should be on such obvious public display. You want to consume porn, fine. That's your choice. I've certainly seen my fair share of it. But its place is not in the public square.

I understand you don't want to see the image if you don't want to, that's your choice. This is why the book was shipped in a black bag to cover the image. I understand not having it shown in public and it being your choice if you want to see it. If you slab a nude image, it should be for your eyes only. However, since this is porn cover, by your definition, do you associate BOOM! Studios with porn? Do you still read their books or any book/magazine company that are associated with porn? Do you like that they are associated with porn? I understand this may be CGC's logic but there are other comic covers (as some have already posted) that display porn images was well. I find it hard to understand where the line is and that any image with penetration is their limit when there many covers are slabbed with nudity and porn images as well.

Like someone has posted earlier, money is money, and I think they are leaving money on the table for books like this.

If it was colour touched, would someone at CCS scrape it off and leave a hole in it?
