Also this cover does check off many of the boxes for a 'perfect' cover, though it does lack the quintessential "Blond woman in a red dress" trope I love to collect. I didn't think this issue would hit this price before some other more notable classic ones though (cough...Chamber of Chills 23...cough)

There are many other PCH books that would pass this price in my opinion.

There are a handful of specific Atlas PCH books that would be in this range and there are several Atlas PCH books that would well surpass this sale (perhaps by double).

My two cents.

Such as?  Just curious as to 8.0s in CR-OW that would surpass.  Black Cat 50 in 8.0 went for $10,800 four months ago.  That is a considerable gap for a comparable grail.

Not a proper comparison and not what I was trying to say.

Your comparison is off because this was the highest graded (1 of 1), pedigree copy of Strange Tales 28.  

The 8.0 BCM you reference was the 20th best copy (tied with others) - and since it’s a Harvey there are probably a bunch more better raw copies and it still sold for $10k.

So to draw a true comparison, what’s the highest graded copy of BCM 50 going to go for these days? $40K, $50K, more?

Incidentally, a 8.0 c/ow weird mysteries 5 sold for $18k a few years back on HA. $25k-30k  book today I’d guess.

My statement was responding to a comment asking if this was the highest selling PCH - it’s not and again there are many other high or highest graded copies of other in demand PCH from various publishers/titles that would well exceed this sale if auctioned today (a number of Mister Mystery and Weird Mysteries come to mind.

For Atlas comics the Spokane copies of Venus 19 and JIM 1 would dwarf this sale if auctioned today.

Mid-grade copies seem stagnant a little to me. It hasn't gotten the price boost a lot of PCH has...not yet, anyway...
