I looked at some recent sales & maybe I am missing something but a typical 3.0 with chipping is getting 18-20k which is about where the book has been over the past few years ( yes I know there are exceptions either way)

 " I never meet an AF 15 I didn't like"

Here is my personal history with the book, I bought my first one in 1988 for $1500 on time payments ( I picked Bluberries all summer to buy that book) from Rainbow comics here in South Jersey, it was raw and when graded came back a VF 7.5 and after being pressed last year its a 8.0 OW it is my personal book and will stay with me until I need some type of medical attention I can't afford lol   Net gain a lot

As a store owner since late  2006 I bought my first AF15 in 2005 on ebay with time payment again ( picked it up at a Nathans parking lot in NY) for $6500 it graded Blue 5.0 no chipping and in 2007ish I sold  it on ebay for $11,999 to a buyer in Germany ( top $$$ sale for that grade at the time) to help start the store. Net gain apx 4k

Two weeks later 2008 I bought a Blue 4.5 witth tape on the insdie cover and chipping on an ebay BIN for $4500 ( sat there for 4 days) 2 years later it sold in the store for $8500 apx net gain 4k

2009 l am at the once a month Wayne NJ comic/toy show and I buy a stunning 4.0 no chipping ow for 10k & trade it in 2013 for a Star Wars figure that I sell for 18k net gain apx 8k

2017/18 I buy a 3.0 with chipping here on the boards for apx 17k and net gain thus far 0, then I am offered another typical 3.5 chipping for 20k (time payments again) again net gain 0 ( I still have both almost sold one here on the boards last year but the buyer backed out)

However,  discounting the 8.0 but counting the profit on the sold/traded AF15s since 2007 ( apx 15/16k) I am about 21k into the 3.0 & 3.5  so for me AF 15 has always been a solid winner and I will always buy one at a FAIR DEAL if I see it for sale, the recent sales on ebay for thr 5.0 and on Heritage will be money makers for the new owners at some point imho. Like I said  " I never meet an AF 15 I didn't like"

I would love to hear other boardies AF #15 history good or bad?

I don't really have a history of sales with the book, just a history of buying one in 1979.  It was $150...

I guess it's worth more than that now...:D  But I don't want to sell it...

That looks to me like a rather low grading for the book. If it were mine at this point, I'd have it graded and slabbed to simply protect it. In the fifty years I had mine, I looked back and saw how many time it could have been damaged or flat out destroyed.  That's a long time to keep the book and I respect that.

What was the figure? I'm a little behind on values but I'm thinking rocket-firing boba fett, carded vinyl cape jawa, carded telescoping lightsaber or trilogo yak face?

I really miss the discussions re: AF15 that bring in the Chinese. When Chinese collectors discover Spiderman and AF15, heck with all their money prices will likely soar. And now they can have two children instead of just one so that's twice as many Chinese collectors looking to buy AF15.

Spidey has always been popular among collectors and in the media. He, Superman and Batman are here for the long haul. We're simply seeing spikes in demand & prices. That's all.  :preach:

Facts are so boring. More stupid gossip and remedial speculation, please!

Did you mean the book looks rather low-grade?  Because I didn't offer a grade for it...hm

Anyone have any data on what percentage the census increases year over year ?  It’s been discussed in Gold but My wild estimate puts that book at around 10k surviving copies.

Enjoy! (all the way down to weekly data, if you want it): http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/search/comicid/162

No I think it to be very nice. I was confused by the postings on top of one another. My point about it now, much as I enjoyed reading my unslabbed one over the decades is that it has taken on serious value. When I got my collection out to sell it, all unslabbed, I realized how just having it in boxes had made the collection deteriorate. I think of the floods, the mice, no fires fortunately that could have wiped it all out. Amazingly only one Submariner was destroyed by mice out of 950 books.  I don't like slabbed books at all but if that book grades like I think it will, you have a serious piece of change in your possession.

Guess I missed the joke.

you speak the truth with few words (at least about AF15), a quality rarely seen in this world. This trait, at times, is not as exciting as saying really stupid stuff like the Chinese will save comic book collecting and make every purchase bullet-proof (so buy She Hulk #1 9.8 for $22,000) or other equally insipid ramblings around here.

Yeah the truth is AF15 since it's purchase at 12 cents in '62 has been a sold book with a solid future. For those who need to plot the trends, it's a simple one. A steep upward curve.

I think I’ve seen it somewhere before but just saw a new 3.5 here

https://www.highgradecomics.com/book-details/?id=147518

and it’s as nice a 3.5 there is. If you took it out of it’s slab and put it side by side with the 5.0 that sold on heritage for $28k (Which is still a great deal on a 5.0) I’d have a hard time paying more for the 5.0.

Just saying

I'm sure glad I didn't pull the trigger on any of the copies I was looking at a few months ago with sellers asking all-time GPA highs in the given grades. Prices have continued on a downwards trend in most grades below 7.0. Time to look for a deal before the next resurgence. #patience

Most of the copies seen in 5.5 and lower are ones frequently for sale/flipped - and/or issues with lesser eye appeal for said grade.  If you see stands out in the range you are able to afford, I wouldnt wait on it :gossip: (it's not to often a good looking low grade copy hits the market IMO)
