So, Why Has AF #15 Continued to Drop In Value?

Spider-Man is 60 years old in a couple of years - that's three generations of Spider-Man fans.  Superman and Batman established themselves as "the big two" when there were just two generations of Superman and Batman fans.  It's not like Superman and Batman are going anywhere, and there are certainly four generations of Superman and Batman fans by now, but physical death comes to the first generation when the fourth generation rises.  The most "powerful" three consecutive generations of fans for any character are Spider-Man fans.  The only thing that keeps Spider-Man down is the number of copies of AF #15 available (relative to Action #1 or Detective #27).  But it will be 20 more years before the first generation of Spider-Man fans are leaving us... and 20 more years of current Spider-Man fans who will want to buy their first copy of AF #15.

AF #15, at age 58, today is "overpriced" in the same way that Action #1 was "overpriced" in 1996, at age 58.

Physical death is definitely my least favorite kind of death.

In the world of comic books, "physical" is a necessary qualifier for the word "death".

All this is funny and all but imagine talking about Action Comics 1 like this for hundreds of pages. It is sad in reality wish all this would simply get back to what is was before than one big hype 2 years ago.

If only we could come back to life like our favourite super heroes!

Seems like every time we think a book is "overpriced" a record sale occurs.

All the kids today talk about is sneakers. That's where the money is. In 20 years sneakers will be worth serious dollars (I know some already are). My last batch of HA auction booklets had a whole book on video games auctions. Now I'm a simple man, good looking, but very, very simple and something to me just seems off on this new emerging collectable video game cartridges entombed in plastic. Like something is, ahhh, what's the word I'm looking for....oh yeah, completely manufactured.

if they're weren't just so many gosh darn copies of AF15 maybe we could make some progress. If only some of us would sacrifice our AF15 copies for the greater good of collecting.

I am a older gentlemen but I have been playing video games since the mid 1980's I truly enjoy them. I would love to own some of the old Nintendo cartridges like Marion or Zelda. I had at least 200 cartridges when that system was the thing to have and I just sold them for about $5 each. I miss those days with arcade rooms they where fun.

That is still my main 2 hobbies video games and comic books. My life would be boring without them. I cherish them and enjoy them each and every single day. When you are alone in life they can be a life saver. That and animals and nature.

pornhub?

Hahahaha nah I will leave it for you young fellows. I had my time and it has passed. I enjoy other things now that do not cost so much money. TEC collecting is quite cheaper than that hobby and I find more rewarding. I will die alone but at least I will have my comic books, video games and my pet as a friend till then. And some good food as well.

jeez man, you sound like a cool dude. no need to die alone (unless that is your wish)  however, I hear you about the "desire" leaving you. Sounds like a blessing.

Thanks I am pretty simple but enjoy what I have. Yes it is a blessing in it's own way but for a long time you wish you still had it. But then acceptance comes then peace and freedom.

are you gonna be buried with our TECs, if so, where?

maybe you guys will see me on an episode of Forensic Files. Or an episode of America's Most Wanted if that was still on the air or as my friends that worked on it called it America's Most Overtime.

Hahaha nah will sell them off before that time comes and donate the money to animal charities they have showed me true love all my life they deserve every penny. Would have lost my mind long ago without their company and devotion. If I die before that my will states all this anyways and I will not change it for the world. The animal shelters will get my house and my comics and whatever is left. Maybe with all that they can open a brand new animal shelter that would be awesome and would make me a happy old man.

Good for you and your wishes. Says a lot about you. Since you seem to enjoy animals, ou may enjoy this movie. It's called The Corpse Grinders and it was made by the (in)famous Ted V. Mikels and was about a cat food company that found the best cat food was made from freshly ground up corpses. Only problem was it turned the cats into crazed killing machines, the cats usually killing blonde women easy on the eyes. I know you said that particular desire is gone for you, but give the film an honest shot. You may like it and if you do I've got other Mikels suggestions.

its fun fun. A movie with soul and passion and what else is there in art? in fact you can say that about any Ted Mikels' production. BTW, no animals were harmed in any way in the making of The Corpse Grinders (as should go without saying).

Well, if it's CL, then it's no wonder as we can't see ANY of their sales or non-sales for that matter.  :p

If you go here on their site you can see results for a lot of auctioned books as far back as 2007.

Is it just me as I am on CL's Home Page and I see nothing at all with a link that says Recent Auction Results?  ???

Yeah it’s not directly on the home page. I’m not saying that wouldn’t be more convenient, but just the way they do it. You have to click the tab that says “Auctions”, then click “Auction Schedule - Consign now!”. That takes you to the screenshot I showed with all the past years of results.
