Why isn't Captain America 100 , white border title variant

My first post, be kind. I have wondered for a while: why isn't Captain America 100 separated into a yellow title border (more common?) and white border variant? It's a silver age key and clearly different versions. The current CL auction has 2 copies up - one of each. any thoughts?

Good spot Comics!

The yellow title border is indeed missing from the first copy making it a printing error. Very nice :)

Welcome to the boards!

Got to admit, took me a few minutes to understand your post. At first I was looking at the "Cap, in his own magazine at last!" and then I saw it was the "Captain America" text shadow.

To save others the time - here's the white border (images borrowed from CLink):

Here's the yellow border copy:

Can't answer the question, just trying to qualify it for others.

Good first post!

Is there an echo in here? :)

There's quite a few of them out there - yellow seems to be the most prevalent, looking at examples on Heritage

Although in this extract, all the top four are yellow and the bottom four white. Spooky

I popped a cap in his asss. Really painful, as it was a graded copy.

It's either the Plasma Gasification glasses or my beer goggles....

It's still an odd printing error as it only affects the title box, the rest of the yellow colors on the covers are identical (Thor's hair & boots, Iron Man's armor, Wasp's wings, the girl in green's hair, etc.).

I've seen others like that, where the colour is only missing from one part of the comic. Maybe something got in the way...

Here's some similar examples from my old files (I had round 100 Spidey errors a one point):

This ASM #182 is missing the red inlay on the 'D':

And this one is missing part of the red exclamation mark that appears at the end of 'EVER' on most every other copy:

Stop it, or I'll have to get out one of my three Newton Ring jokes.

You’ll be snug in bed, dreaming of biscuits and losing wars to France.

If my stomach is anything to go by, I fear I'll be dreaming of France and losing wars to biscuits.
