I was wondering who had the most appearances in various issues Sup or Bat... so I found this Ranker list.

Wow. I figured Sup and Bat would battle for #1 and #2, but some of the rest of these rankings... wow. :whatthe:

I don't know when this list was made, but there is an obvious "tilt" in character appearances that I wasn't expecting.

Some of the big names that I thought for sure would be near the top didn't even crack the top 50, and some in the top half are just O.o were they really that popular?

This issue number seems extraordinarily high to me. Anyone agree?

Not really, considering he had so many running books consecutively and then made appearances EVERYWHERE.  He is the US version of Wolverine, but poor Logan didn't have eleventy billion monthly consecutive comics at the same time (just was in every team possible instead).

Yeah...I don't know. Is it including foreign editions, reprints, collections? I'd like to see the criteria they're using as far as what constitutes an "appearance".

I dunno, there's a lot of different spidey titles out there.

ASM, PPSP, SensSM, WoSM, SM, etc...

Was Judge Dredd really that popular!?

I wasn't comicbooking in the 90s so I wouldn't know.

Consider that 12000 is 1000 years of appearing in 1 issue per month, 200 years of appearing in 5 issues per month, 50 years of appearing in 20 issues per month, etc.

Spidey hasn't been around that much more than 50 years and I'm not sure there are any months that he actually hit 20(!!) appearances, let alone as an average.

They probably got the numbers from that junk site that includes all kinds of :censored:

Dredd had (short) stories published weekly, so his numbers should be relatively high.

MCS has about 160 pages (50 issues/page) of spidey-title issues for close to 8000 apps in spidey-title issues (might include variants though).

But that's not counting his apps in non-spidey titles.

I'm unclear-can you clarify what this means?  I dont understand '160 pages' and '50 issues/page' means.

With the vast majority being one-shots, variants, various reprints, etc.

Show me a publishing month with 20 actual Spidey appearances.

Entries, not issues. And they aren't even all comics.

Wolverine at over 12,000 appearances in 3rd place is astounding when you think that before his ongoing in 88', he probably had less than 150.

Do they count Hulk 180 as one of his 'appearances'?  Because-

Hulk

Powers & Abilities: Shapeshifting, Healing factor, Superhuman speed, Superhuman strength, Reality warping

I knew about the strength and healing, but not the others. They must've come after I stopped reading it.

Wolvie has many appearances but, again, those numbers are B.S.

I wonder where such numbers could be found?

I mean, real numbers. That's what I started looking for but didn't find explanations for where the numbers come from.
