Ok I'm going to beat this dead horse to DEATH! I am the person that original posted a raw copy of ASM 667 on eBay years ago which started all the speculation, I"ll explain. There is a comic book forum out there somewhere (not sure which one) with most of this story already maybe someone can locate it and share a link I know one or two people in this thread know what i'm talking about. I think I originally posted the raw copy for $1200 and got laughed at so I put it up to $2000 then 4k then 7k If I remember correctly. I was getting all kinds of messages some good some bad so I decided to take it down. some time passed and I was contacted about the book to see if I still had it and I did but didn't want to get rid of it at the time. So years passed and someone reached out again and said they heard I was claiming to have a raw copy I believed to be a 9.8 if graded. I did. I end up making a deal and the copy went on to be graded at a 9.8 as expected. I was watching every sale online I could find throughout the years and documented every one so I knew the copy I had was superior, it was the best copy I had ever seen. Most of the rest had creases or spine cracks. Now, with this book being so rare why would you think most of these books would be in poor condition especially early on? Here goes,,,When these copies made their way to the retailers they started to go up for sale and I won my copy from an eBay auction for $142. The eBay seller was of course a retailer. I paid then waited and waited and waited until I thought for sure I paid a lot of money and was getting ripped off so I looked at the eBay seller name and searched online for that specific comic book store and called them. They guy that answered was nice and when I told him who I was he immediately started apologizing and said Hurricane Sandy flooded all the shops where he was and he was still going to get it in the mail I just had to wait. I thought it was going to have water damage, of course I thought the worst. He also told me his buddy said there were only 100 printed and 30 were damaged during shipping he also said his buddy works at Diamond Disturbers just up the street. Now, originally when I told this story to a few people I said I got an email stating this info but when I dug through all my emails I could not find it, later to remember and realize that I called the comic book store and the owner had told me. Take it for what you will, it's a true story and that store owner had no reason to make up numbers at the time because he had no clue what the book would be worth later, if he did i'm sure I would not have gotten it for $142

It looks like this topic has not been updated for some time, and a lot has gone on since then, but is this, then, Jay's alleged "documented proof"?

ASM 667 on the shelves August 10, 2011, and Hurricane Sandy hit during October 2012. And flooding causes spine ticks. And some guy has a buddy so it has to be true!

Got it! :tonofbricks:

I guess me winning the book was not as close you would have liked it to be from the release date and I never said the books were damaged from the hurricane I just said I was told they were damaged so quick math would say they box could have been crushed somehow or the books were just not packed right who knows. I never said it had to be true but if you read my post again it says take it for what you will but it is my truth because it is exactly what was told to me. and again like I said this store owner had no reason to make up a story. The books being damaged had nothing to do with anything at the time not even the delay in shipping it to me.

Neither do many of the other :censored: who pull numbers out of their :censored:, but they still do it.

I've been told many things by store owners. Some have even been true!
