A potpourri of comic auctions ending Monday night...nice books, going WAY cheap. I think all of the regular MCS bidders must be out at the beach or something. :D  Let their loss be your gain!

---

Two auctions still active:

Thrilling Comics (1940-51 Better/Nedor/Standard) 60 GD/VG 3.0 (my grade was 4.0/4.5). Alex Schomburg GGA cover; some stains on back but a much, much nicer copy than average. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222829

Weird Horrors (1952) 8 GD- 1.8 (my grade was 2.0). Nice GGA graveyard cover. Deep colors and nice appearance for the grade. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222830

Completed auctions:

Spoiler

Amazing Spider-Man (1963 1st Series) 48 FN+ 6.5 (my grade was 7.5; most dealers would say 8.0). Beautiful copy of this silver age Spidey; probably my favorite Romita cover. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222817

Crime Smashers (1950-53 Trojan) 14 FR 1.0 (my grade was 1.5; 1.0 is obviously too harsh, sheesh guys!) Classic crime book with a GGA cover from this hot series. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222820

Jungle Comics (1940 Fiction House) 152 GD+ 2.5 (my grade was 4.0). Great-looking Whitman cover with super vibrant colors. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222822

Jungle Comics (1940 Fiction House) 155 VG 4.0 (my grade was 7.0, but they note a spot of rust transfer at a staple that I missed. I suck! But 4.0 is still way too harsh IMO). Beautiful Whitman cover with a very high grade appearance. What looks like a scratch in the logo is a print production wrinkle (I checked it with a magnifying loop). Good luck, and thanks for looking! (thumbsu

Cool books. I will check it out. Haven't followed the MCS auctions in a while.

Are the grades verified via the Point Five Grading Service?

:roflmao:

No, these grades are just off-the-cuff, not verified. You wouldn't believe the backlog at this point.

Bring me that sweet green cover. Nevermind the itty bit of tape in the back cover

You won the Jungle #152? Nice, well done! I'll miss that one.

Next up are the Thrilling and Weird Horrors. The Thrilling seems to be getting the most love tonight.  Weird Horrors is still snoozing.  zzz

And since you guys have been kind enough to follow this thread... Here's a few precode horror books that I have listed as BINs on MCS. (Unfortunately, if GA books aren't bought the instant they're listed, they generally sink like stones into their vast inventory.) Three fun books, undergraded :taptaptap: and well worth your consideration.

Baffling Mysteries (1952) 14 GD+ 2.5 (my grade was 3.5; most dealers would say 4.0/4.5). Lovely copy of this GGA cover with deep reds. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222818

Strange Mysteries (1951 Superior) 5 FR 1.0 (my grade was 1.8/2.0; again, a book with this eye appeal is not a Fair, ye cats!) Zany GGA cover and some fun weird interior stories. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222824

Thing! (1952) 9 GD- 1.8 (my grade was 2.0, but I can live with 1.8. :foryou: ). Cool GGA abduction cover from this classic horror series. Link: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=49222827
