As a dealer I'll purchase anything I can market.  But on a personal level, there are no "mega-keys" that do anything for me.  But I'm a sucker for the ultra-rare (and often over-pay because of it).  I'd love to own a Kokonut Comics just because there are only a couple of known copies.  I love rare pulps whose existence seems to number in single digits.  I currently have a true 1st edition of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"... but in the variant binding that is so rare, it appears I may have the only copy.  I own a Charlie Chaplin poster circa 1916 whose title-variation may be unique.  I have what may be the earliest lobby card to depict Boris Karloff.  None of this stuff will bring what even a lower-grade AF15 will... but I find it fascinating for some reason.

As I have gotten older I no longer have the desire to spend money on comic books, it just does not excite me as it used to and I feel the prices have become outrageous (is it because I became "that old guy"?), at this point I cannot even see myself spending $25.00 for any book.

What a great question!

One thing I've learned is that many vintage books are quite common. I can't tell you how many copies of certain books I've seen, which really tends to diminish my fascination with them. And to be honest, in this era of "all things pressed," it's pretty tough to get excited about most of the books I see for sale, no matter what the grade is. I've seen 9.6's and 9.8's that I wasn't satisfied with for one reason or another...

I'm a purist---I don't like owning things that've been tampered with, even if it's become acceptable by many folks in the hobby. And as much as I understand why folks collect sig series books, a quick search will give you some idea how many of those books are for sale these days. The truth is, I feel that the market for comic buyers has become just like any other big business: the quality has diminished, the quantity is manipulated, and the prices are inflated. 

I still love this hobby, but it's getting tougher to maintain my mojo...
