We all know what a flipbook is, right? What I don't know is if there is only one name for the book. IOW - let's say you're trying to find this book in the OSPG, would you look under 'Y' or 'B' (or either)?

Ok, I'm going to come clean. I recently had CGC slab a completely run-of-the-mill comic with absolutely no monetary value. I just like the book (cue Muttley laugh gif). One side is Glory/Angela: Angels in Hell #1 and the other side is Darkchylde #1. It has the Darkchylde side facing front (by request) but the label says Glory/Angela: Angels in Hell. Is this because G/A is the actual name of the book, or should it have said "Darkchylde #1" on the label?

It's really not that big of a deal. I'm mostly just curious.

Spoiler

What does the indicia say? Is there one or two? I had a few Spidey Adventures flipbooks back in the day, with X-Men Adventures etc. There was one indicia which showed both titles and that determined the order / book title as I recall.

I just got my first flip book a week or so ago in a pile of stuff my partner brought home for me.Until then I thought they were those big little style books you flipped with your thumb on the corner to make a moving Donald Duck or such.

And Muttley gif?You mean from the Macc Lads?

Marvel Comics Presents had the flip book format for quite awhile. At least I think it was a flip book format hm

I've submitted some of these MCP flip books for grading. :acclaim:

My question is: when CGC grades a flip book, how do they determine which of the two covers goes at the front of the slab?

I've noticed that in all the MCP flip books that I've had graded, CGC has always put the cover with the Wolverine title at the front of the slab. What, is he cooler?

However, the 30th anniversary logos are only printed on one of the covers, which I've always considered the true front cover.

I was thinking of setting up a phone poll to sort out this matter.

They take the one with the indicia as the 'primary' copy. In this case, the Wolverine cover:

In the 'secondary' comic, the Ghost Rider, it also says 'Next Issue' so it's clear which order they are really - a bit like old vinyl albums :)

I used to have all these Spidey Newsstand Flipbooks years back. Some of them were really hard to find and - as i recall - didn't appear in Overstreet:

Aha! That was too easy! No longer any need to conduct a phone poll. lol

Looking at a scan of the issue online, only the Glory/Angela: Angels In Hell #1 side seems to have an indicia.

I believe so, but it was clear which side was the “real” front cover. Can’t remember how. Maybe the little UPC box or something. Or the indicia or editorial page inside. Maybe one story was longer than the other
