This is a picture of a seven year old me with George Takei from a Star Trek convention in 1975. I have been trying to figure out what comic I'm holding for years. The two things that I can make out is that it is square bound and on the spine it looks like it says MONSTERS OF THE. That's all I got. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

If it's a squarebound, could it be a magazine? They were very common back in the mid 1970's. The back cover looks correct for the period. Could it be "Monsters of the Movies" magazine?

I believe you may be holding an issue of "Monsters of the Movies" -- a short-lived magazine-sized series produced by Marvel in 1974-75.  The back cover ("Have you seen this coupon before?") matches the back cover of issue #2.  Other issues of this series may have the same back cover, so I can't say for sure that it's #2.

It matches the back cover of #8 also. My guess is also that it's an issue of that mag run.

Given you’re at a Star Trek convention, with George Takei, holding a Mego Kirk and wearing a Kirk t-shirt, my vote is you’re holding this mag:

Square bound, from 1975 and back cover match.

Thanks for the input guys. I think the first response from The Lions Den is correct that it is Monsters of the Movies magazine. I hadn't considered a mag because in the picture it doesn't look big enough but I think it's just the picture angle. I also do remember owning issue #1 because I was a King Kong fan so it has to be that issue. I looked on ebay and it has that same back cover. Thanks to blowupthemoon for the clean-up. It looks great.
