aardvark88
bump*. About 2 weeks left so time to start bagging and boarding. May bring some scarce 7-11 plastic cups (e.g. Stan Lee as ASM, Wondergirl, Wonder Woman, Joker) if I am in a good mood, as they are fragile:

Are they jacking up the admission fees for this show with every single outing? I thought this show was only $8 on the last go round back at the beginning of the year or was it the one before that? Admission was $8 when show started out at non-union Croat Cult Ctr. Then they were forced to move and expand their convention to the union labor PNE Forum building. $12 admission but a huge 20,000 sq foot show of fun so you may as well drive in to Rain-couver and dig around for good deals. I thought it was something like that.........but I am still not sure if it warrants a 50% increase in the admission rates. Especially when you factor in all of the additional dough they must be puling in from the dealers for the extra tables. Rain-couver is definitely right from what i went through last week after being away in Japan for almost a whole month there. Although we did get to enjoy the benefits of super Typhoon Hagibis while we were there. Well, at least it looks like the sun is going to be with us here in Sun-couver for the coming week. Fan Boy
Hoping that on the weekend Sunday will bring a good show with good weather. It is out on news that Translink bus drivers and seabus had put out a notice to strike on Friday morning. It’s not yet official while the union members and company are negotiating in meetings to hammer out a deal together. If not ... some people might have figure out creative ways to attend the PNE show on Sunday. 😬😬 Through it is kind of irony that Translink has just announced to put out a new double decker transit bus in service ONE day before Friday! I find it somewhat hilariously.

I will set aside $20 Absorene for you. Vicky #2 about $20. See you all at the PNE Forum!
aardvark88
Seems like attendance was up about 15% from previous high. Some dealers reported having their strongest retail sales; was my 2nd highest for comic sales at a 1 day local con. Not sure if I should be happy or sad when Harley is my best customer: must be wholesaling my GA, SA, and EC. Some sample raw sales from memory: ASM #344 nm Carnage Avengers #4 vg+ Batman 23 Joker cover 5.0, Batman Wal-mart 100 pgs. $10 Micronauts #1 x 2 copies sold about 6 x 7-11 DC and Marvel plastic cups including a scarce Stan Lee as ASM cup to @Fan Boy Spider-woman #1 x 2 copies. Darkhawk #1 $20 Marvel Age with Darkhawk preview requests for Darkhawk vs Venom issues. Has Darkhawk been confirmed for GotG movie or some new hype? Vicki #2 scarcer Atlas, Capt Canuck #1 nm: consistent seller at every con for me. Ghost Rider #2 Son of Satan first app. (out of costume?) vf, Eternals #2 low grade, Venom Marvel Firsts ASM #300 reprint: consistent seller at $5. Moon Knight #1, Marvel Tales #1 low grade. Walking Dead #1 Image Firsts: consistent seller at $5-$6. X-men #9, 14 Juggernaut, #98, and a few Byrne X-men #121 Alpha Flight 2nd. Next PNE Forum show in early March, 2020 after Vancouver Fan Expo mid-Feb, 2020 Family Day weekend. New 2 day pop culture and sports show at downtown Parq Casino early Feb, 2020 with Vancouver Canuck guests.
Fan Boy
Our booth had good sales - up from the last show. I had sold many books to happy collectors. Also to some dealers, one being the big Yee. I was surprised that he set up his booth next to me as he didn’t do in the past. Wonder if he become aware how great this show had grew into? Sold Hulk Annual 1 CGC Sold ASM 27 to a happy American collector, got U.S. cash to start my next Comic con trip 😃. Sold a batch of SA Archie comics to a collector, made a good sale on them. Sold some SA Thor books Sold Marvel Secret Wars 8 book Sold a short box of new cheap reader books imported from Baltimore quickly ❤️ Had gotten some requests for Blackbird, SA Wonder Woman, Darkhawk (had gotten rumours about being in a movie), and more few ones. That will get me looking to resupply the boxes. Funny, I seem to be sold out of Hulks in one of my boxes? Thanks to Aardvark88 for the 7-11 cups, seems that they were part of a 60 DC character Slurpee cup collection when they come out. I need to find 57 more cups. 🤪 Looking forward for the first show in March 2020! aardvark88

Wandered by your display to check out the X-Men #12 only to later spot it at Harley's booth graded and priced higher than I'm sure it would have been if I'd bought it from you. No deals for me, had some good conversations but otherwise left the show empty handed.

Next PNE show will be Sunday March 1, 2020, and post-Father's Day con will be Sunday June 28 when Harley may visit us again unless he is scheduled for 2 cons on the same weekend on opposite coasts again. The only problem with Harley is that his hot books seems more geared towards the deep pocketed American buyers since they can be priced right up to the hilt sometimes. The perfect example being the CGC 9.0 graded copy of Special Marvel Edition 15 which he had priced at $950 USD. Again, that was for only a CGC 9.0 graded copy of the book. It would be good if Ferd from Winnipeg comes out for the summer show again, as he usually has a couple of goodies hidden away and his prices are usually much more reasonable. I believe Harley also had a coverless Hulk #181 at about $850 US so I sure hope it has the MVS inside. Now I have to go raise the sticker price on my coverless Hulk #182.
