I don't disagree with you. However...CGC didn't receive any unmerited boon for missing it. Whoever was the last person in the chain who A. knew about the resto or B. did the resto themselves...DID.

And, sad to say, there are people out there who hope CGC misses resto (and not just "could be, might be" but IS) so they can sell a book for more than it's really worth.

I gotta give KUDOS to CGC for never hiding behind it.  To the best of my knowledge, they have always made good on mistakes such as this.

In sum, what is going on here is that everyone is taking CGC on faith, because they are NOT guaranteeing their grade and evaluation, and there's no recourse against CGC if they get it wrong.  Pretty awesome business model!  Having said that, they have every incentive to try as hard as they can to grade accurately because the only thing they are selling is their reputation.

They literally have the word 'Guarantee' in their name but they don't guarantee their work?
